Wasn't there a time when his habit of wandering about on your roof came to a dramatic end when your old, rough roof tiles were replaced by nice new smooth ones?

Nicola, is this a wind up? I've nothing against Jaguars, I drive an XE Sport ffs. But wow, that 01 thing is hideous. An absolute crime against taste.

Aged abiut 6. There was an Enid Blyton book (Secret 7?) That involved a "baddie" working in the circus who had a wooden leg. At the same time, the b side of the Rupert Bear theme song single was called "Going To The Circus". That song, irrationally, terrified me. I couldn't listen to it.

Would love to. We'd need to have a coffee first though, to assess spooning compatability.

Not everywhere. They still have an intermission at the Rex in Elland, complete with an ice cream seller. Or you can buy tea or coffee, in a proper mug. And snacks are at normal shop prices.

The first three albums are incredible. I vividly remember the first time I heard Pink Flag. Reuters knocked me backwards. By the time I'd recovered, Lowdown did it again. Such great music.

No, they've just rebooked me for 8.30 on Friday morning. But....if you miss two in a year they strike you from the patient list, so I need to be more careful with making diary entries.

I went to the dentists this morning. Only to be told I should have been there yesterday 🤦 Will treat myself with a trip to the barbers this afternoon.

Thanks Paul. I'm sorry for those still there. Certainly not sorry for myself, if I hadn't got out I was heading for a second nervous breakdown. Was close enough to age 60 to retire, take the cash for voluntary severance, and run like hell!

Absolutely. My job was cut three years ago, along with seven others, total service about 150 years, gone. My old department has been cut from 34 teaching staff to about 15. We could barely cope with 34, heaven knows how they manage now.

Really? Daley Thompson, Tessa Sanderson, Linford Christie, Jessica Ennis, Nicolas Adams, Christine Ohuruogu, Kelly Holmes, Mo Farah? Not English? I don't assume that all of them identify as English, but I'd bet that most of them do. And that's what matters.

PLENTY more. I'd kinda blocked them out till I saw your post. Off the top of my head: Rees-Mogg, Kwarteng, Philp, Leadsom, Dorries, Williamson, Raab, Hancock. *Shudder*. *Shudder* again. Oh, the horror.

Bloody hell. I don't watch Question Time often but didn't expect this. Andrew Neil slagging the Tories for being shit on immigration and *sort of* praising Labour. Quoting actual figures showing a massive drop in numbers. And telling our UK Nazis to get to fuck. Unexpected hat tip.

The problem with this is that US agents have no jurisdiction in the UK. They had no more legal authority to arrest him as I do (i.e., none at all).

I've just seen why he's being mentioned. Not just beige, he's a fucking coward. "Doesn't take sides". The money (that he doesn't even need) is more important to him than principles (that he obvs lacks), and humanity.

I've seen pictures of him, and seen him briefly on the telly, but couldn't name or recognise a single one of his songs.

Oh - and I like your show too. But I listen to so many radio shows and podcasts I'm forever on catchup (apart from The Archers and The News Agents). To the extent that my next Dead To Me episode is Hypatia of Alexandria.

If food is provided, you eat what you're given, and it's generally poor quality, as cheap as the private contractors can find. BUT they come for our generous benefits. Yeah, beyond a bunk bed and "meals" in polystyrene boxes they have less than a tenner a week for everything else 4* hotels arse.
000
Pete Moxon @petemoxon.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
Ha! The 4* hotel myth. When you strip out a hotel room and replace the furniture with a pair of bunk beds, so four people sleep there, it's not a 4* hotel anymore. The bar and restaurant are shut, not that the "residents" could afford to use them...

I've only used Domino's once (at the urging of my kids, they like name brands). Never again, my local independent does superior pizzas at less than half the price. Kids agree too. I've just had broccoli & tomato quiche and salad btw.
