Definitely not starting a Speed Freaks themed army for 11th edition 40K. Nope. Probably

3-0 after day one of the club Old World GT today. Matchup into High Elves tomorrow I think. Really enjoying the game right now.

It’s my club’s Old World GT this weekend so finally had to get my Cathy baggage train finished.

Games Workshop, please hire some technical professionals for your stream team/events. It’s embarrassing.

Rewatching first two seasons of Foundation before getting round to season 3 and my god I forgot how good it is.

Used my new Helsmith army for first time in a one day AoS event yesterday. Went 2-1 May not be as powerful as nurgle but I had so much more fun using them. Maybe it was just novelty, we’ll see how it feels in a month or two.

Cheeky game of Old World at the club tonight.

Two crane gun Sky Lanterns finished off this week to join the iron hail/bomb one I already have.

Played about 10 games with new Maggotkin book now. Found some fun in using new units and options but ultimately I still just found myself envious of other armies having mobility and agency to play the scenario. A bunch of scenarios I felt I like was chasing my own tail.

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 09/01/2026

Played my first game of 3rd edition Horus Heresy last night and really enjoyed the flow of the new game. Battle looked great too, no units huddled hiding behind a flat MDF building.

Last bit of hobby for the year, built a saturnine terminator command squad. All magnetised so I can use them as standard terminators too.

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

2025 didn’t start great but turned out super positive. Made a bunch of lifestyle changes, lost almost 10 stone in weight (60kg) and been much more productive. Painted 3,500pts of Old World Orcs, 2500pts of Grand Cathay and 2,500pts of Heresy White Scars. Excited for 2026 and playing more games!

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 30/12/2025

Just built a few of the nurgle models from Darkwater that I picked up on eBay. They are lovely sculpts but best part was they were only 4 or 5 parts each and assembly was a dream. Proof that modern GW models don’t need to be a million fiddly parts.

Probably the last bit of hobby to be finished this year. Pair of shugengan lords.

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 21/12/2025

New Maggotkin of Nurgle book has leaked. I was so pumped to revisit and refresh my Nurgle army in January but half way through reading the leak and the wind is well and truly out of my sails.

Been busy with terrain for the club for a while but managed to get back to painting my own stuff this week. More White Scars finished this morning and now back to some Old World to expand the Cathay.

0171

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 23/11/2025

Back to White Scars last week as a change from Cathay. Got another rhino and 10 more tacticals done along with a Land Raider and first Jet Bike unit. Plus a Stormseer as my first Command choice.

Got Miao Ying painted up this week. So that’s 2000pts painted and ready for my first games with the army this week.

Excited for the new Cathay reveal so pushing ahead with what I have already to have a clear paint queue once they land. Just finished 10 more Jade Lancers and very close to having 2000pts painted. Miao Ying next…

Great game for Old World last night, finally putting a fully painted nomadic waaagh list on the table. Practice for a 1750pt event next weekend.

Found myself down a rabbit hole of “Dangers of AI” videos on YouTube this week. I already hated it from a creativity standpoint but now I’m just generally concerned about our future digital overlords.

Fantastic Horus Heresy apocalypse game happening today in the club. Thankfully I’m not running it, it’s pure chaos

Just finished my first Cathay lantern. The crew were a joy to paint and it’s kind sad how much they get lost when put inside the basket. The balloon itself was a slog though. Definitely not doing more than 2.

Had a bit of rolling cold and flu for past week or two but finally got back to some hobby and finished off a unit of jade warriors and a second cannon for my Cathay. Really happy with how the army is shaping up.

Bit of a break from Old World minis, knocked out the first unit for a new White Scars heresy army.

These end up a bit of a chore, but that’s the first unit of Jade Lancers done.

Started today painting my first lot of Jade Lancers. Got bored and ended up doing this instead.

Bit of Adeptus Titanicus at the club today. Legio Atarus marches to oppose the traitorous Warmaster.

Non-hobby related update. 6 months ago I made a few big health and lifestyle changes. As of today I’ve now lost 45kg (7 stone) in weight. I still have a long way to go and joint pain is kicking my ass as I try to be more active. But feeling very positive and filled with motivation.

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 27/08/2025

Just finished off a Grand Cannon for my Cathay army. Gonna tackle first 5 lancers next.

Old World event in the club today. Sadly we had a drop out so I don’t get to play.

Hobby table is loaded with big thicc boys at the minute. The one in the foreground infinitely more pleasurable to assemble than the one in the background

Just finished off the first rank of my first Grand Cathay unit. Really happy with how these have turned out. Will be slow going to finish the army but want to try and maintain this standard.

A bunch of orcs. Brought to you by the power of slap chop and my ability to procrastinate on other more time critical tasks…

I should be building and painting terrain but decided to paint dinosaurs instead

Got my Black Orc BSB on chariot finished along with some Wolf chariots for my Old World Nomadic Waaagh list. Some boar boys on the table this week before the new Cathay stuff distracts me.

060

Pete Pratt @peteaos.bsky.social · 25/06/2025

Knocked out an Orc Shaman on a Wyvern today while following all the Old World FAQ coverage content. Need to start all those black Orcs next.

Loving reading some of the massive overreaction and salt regarding the new Grand Cathay rules. But my single favourite Facebook comment has to be: “GW are trying to appease the Chinese government” 😂

Just setup my first 3D printer (FDM). Sitting watching it run through the calibration process has already been entertainment enough to justify the cost.
