I've started to add BeOS to Infinite Mac - you can see the first few versions on infinitemac.org?filter=beos Not having been much of a user back in the day, I'm looking for suggestions of software to include, or pointers to canonical archives (is there a Be version of the Macintosh Garden?)

I've switched over Infinite Mac's classic Mac emulation to recently-released and awesome Snow, which unblocks A/UX emulation: infinitemac.org?filter=aux There's a behind-the-scenes blog post at blog.persistent.info/2026/09/infi... detailing this and other site updates.

Two new tools on www.streamspigot.com: - Sky Feeder generates a feed of your Bluesky timeline - Tweeter Feeder generates per-account feeds for that other site Together with the existing Masto Feeder tool, this lets me continue to pretend to live in 2011, consuming everything in a feed reader.

Classic Mac's OS file system innovations (resource forks, metadata) were often lost in transit on the Internet in 1995, and the same is true 30 years later with Infinite Mac. I found a workaround using modern macOS's built-in .zip archives – a brief writeup: blog.persistent.info/2025/09/infi...

Another demo is my Infinite Monkey: infinitemac.org/monkey/ It lets OpenAI's or Anthropic's computer use models control an emulated Mac, based on your chat instructions. This means that it's possible to run @simonwillison.net's "draw me a pelican riding a bicycle" test in 1984's MacPaint 1.0.
Emulated System 1.0 instance running MacPaint 1.0. It is being controlled by the OpenAI computer-use model, and attempting to draw a pelican riding a bicycle.

Infinite Mac can now be embedded into any website: infinitemac.org/embed For a demonstration of what this can enable, see @aresluna.org's amazing "Frame of preference" article: aresluna.org/frame-of-pre...

Mac OS X was released on this day 24 years ago. On this anniversary, here it is on the web: infinitemac.org/2001/Mac%20O... (technically 10.1, but that’s the first release that actually worked acceptably)

Infinite Mac now has a “Macintosh Garden” drawer that allows one-click loading of any of the 20,000 items archived by that site. I wrote up a brief post with some behind-the-scenes details: blog.persistent.info/2024/11/infi...
