Overall, great stories about people wrestling with their flaws and trying to better. Kinda what Marvel is all about!

I picked the series because of Speedball, but honestly he got kind of short shrift, though there were some nice tie-ins to his time as Penance. Cool to see Justice, though he was doucheier than I remember. (Maybe from being in prison?) A ton of Hank Pym, which scratched a real itch for me.

Further adventures into #marvelunlimited: The Last Avengers Story by Peter David and Ariel Olivetti. Like all “last” stories, this leans into major deaths but also ennui. As a lifelong Pymer, I enjoyed the focus on Hank. Olivetti’s work here has a delicious Simon Bisley feel. #comicbooks #comicsky

Continuing my year of #marvel Unlimited app and loving this Defenders run by Super Sal Buscema! His style really crystalizes quickly. Reminds me of Alan Davis on Captain Britain! Thanks to @figuredaction.bsky.social for the Defender tip! 100% that Val kicks it into a new gear! #comicbooks #comicsky
This comic book panel features the Silver Surfer in mid-flight, his iconic silver form blazing with light trails. He's depicted against a vibrant, abstract background filled with swirling, colorful lines in shades of pink, yellow, and blue, suggesting speed and disorientation. In the foreground, stylized buildings and what appear to be tiny cars suggest an urban environment below. A speech bubble from the Surfer declares, "--AND SMASH IT HEAD-ON!", conveying a sense of urgency and determination. The overall mood is energetic and action-packed.This comic panel features a close-up of a character, likely a wizard, with his eyes closed and a serene, knowing smile on his face. He wears a distinctive yellow pointed hood layered over a light blue collar, cinched with a blue cloak. His hand, resting over his chest, is adorned with a circular, green and white amulet. The vibrant colors and bold lines suggest a dramatic or mystical narrative. The text above reads, "SOMEWHERE, A WIZARD SMILES IN HIS SLEEP," adding an element of intrigue and foreshadowing.A comic panel features five identical, muscular male figures, identified as "Namors," advancing from left to right. They are shirtless, wearing green, scaled leggings with gold trim. Each Namor has dark hair, arched eyebrows, and stern, scowling expressions, exuding a sense of power and grim determination. A speech bubble from the upper left reads, "TO OUR RIGHT: FIVE NAMORS!" This suggests a formidable enemy or a powerful force being revealed. This comic panel depicts a dramatic battle scene. A warrior, seen from behind, with blonde hair in a braid and a flowing blue cape, wields a glowing blue sword. They have just decapitated a large, ferocious green serpent. Blood and red mist spurt from the serpent's severed neck, and its headless body writhes in agony. The serpent's remaining head, with glowing red eyes, glares menacingly and shouts the word "MISSSSSSSSSSSED!" in a speech bubble, indicating a failed attack or escape. Surrounding the combatants is a swirling pink mist, adding to the chaotic and intense atmosphere of the fight.

Caught the #Art of #Manga exhibit at @deyoungmuseum.bsky.social during the run’s extension (thank you!). I don’t know manga as well as I should, so this was a great crash course. Will definitely be following up on Taniguchi Jiro’s “Ice Age Chronice of the Earth” (third pic). #comicsky #comicbooks
This black and white manga panel depicts a highly stylized, intense scene. A character's head is shown in extreme close-up, their face contorted in a scream and covered with densely packed Japanese text, giving a surreal, disorienting effect. Harsh, angular lines and speed lines radiate from behind the figure, suggesting intense action or psychic energy. Two hands, rendered with detail, are positioned as if confronting or interacting with the character. The overall mood is one of chaos, high drama, and overwhelming sensory input. This striking artwork reimagines "The Creation of Adam," with a muscular man, intricately tattooed with cherry blossoms, lying wounded. Blood stains his white cloth wrap and blood streaks his face, his expression showing pain and defiance. He reaches upwards towards a hand emerging from stylized white clouds, mirroring Michelangelo's iconic pose. The background transitions from a vivid red to an orange glow, resting on a base of marbled blues and greens evoking water or stylized waves. The imagery merges classical art with Japanese tattoo culture and a narrative of struggle and hope. This is a manga panel depicting a chaotic and dramatic scene of aerial and aquatic combat. In the top panel, a figure wearing a winged glider soars across a grey sky above a stormy, wave-tossed sea. The middle and bottom panels shift focus. One section shows powerful, shadowy tentacles erupting from the water, creating a threatening, dynamic effect. Another shows a figure in mid-air, seemingly falling and being wrapped by a large, serpentine tentacle. Close-ups reveal the distressed expressions of individuals and the imposing, mechanical armor of a character. The art style is monochromatic with bold lines, emphasizing the intense action and danger. This is a black and white illustration, framed and matted, featuring a young girl with large, expressive eyes at the center. She wears a traditional kimono adorned with a geometric pattern. Flanking her are three mythological or animalistic figures: to her left, a deer with prominent antlers; to her right, a creature resembling a wolf or boar; and behind her, a fluffy, bird-like being with wide, staring eyes. Each figure holds a staff or candle holder, and they are all depicted with a somewhat solemn or mysterious expression, creating an atmospheric and intriguing scene.

Sorry to see you go, Sal Buscema. I remember not being into his style as a kid when he was doing Web of Spider-Man, but I came up in the #comicbooks of the extreme 90s, an era that hasn’t really aged well. But Sal has aged like fine wine. Here he is wilding out on the Defenders #comicsky #supersal
In a stark, snowy landscape with jagged mountains, the metallic Silver Surfer stands amidst several large, brown, hairy, ape-like beings. He gently touches the head of one creature, which looks down at him. The scene evokes a sense of wonder and discovery. A speech bubble from one of the creatures directly addresses the viewer, stating, "I MADE FRIENDS EASILY..." while a caption above describes the inhabitants as "simple, child-like folk" who are "profoundly curious."

Trying the #marvel unlimited app. I like plundering the archives and I’m digging the dynamic view where of automatically zooming into panels—makes reading comics on my phone fun. Nice way to pass a train commute. Night Nurse is way ‘70s but also tons of melodramatic fun! #comicsky #comicbooks #ncbd
This comic book cover depicts a dramatic scene titled "Stan Lee Presents: Night Nurse!" A red-haired nurse, Christine Palmer, in a white uniform and a flowing red cape, walks with purpose towards a large, ominous gothic mansion. The night is stormy, with wind indicated by her tugging cape and the text describing howling wind and lightning. She clutches a suitcase, looking determined yet apprehensive. The caption text on the cover sets a suspenseful mood, hinting at secrets within "The Secret of Sea-Cliff Manor!"This comic panel depicts a tense confrontation. A figure wearing a fedora and long trench coat, partially obscured, points a handgun at a blonde nurse who appears frightened. Behind her, an older man with a grim expression is visible. The dialogue balloons indicate a threat, with the gunman stating, "Okay, girlie--stand aside--unless you wanna get it first!" This captures a dramatic, high-stakes moment filled with danger and suspense. This comic panel depicts a heated confrontation. On the left, a woman with vibrant red hair is overwhelmed with distress, her hands covering her face as tears stream down. Her dialogue suggests she's about to reveal malpractice. To her right, a man in a suit with blond hair and a tie shouts furiously, pointing a finger. His speech bubbles reveal he's been drinking, taking pills, and is desperate to stop Christine from revealing details about fake prescriptions and stolen equipment. The overall mood is one of intense conflict and desperation. This comic panel depicts three nurses, viewed from behind and standing in what appears to be the entrance of Metro General Hospital. The nurse on the left has vibrant red hair, while the other two have blonde hair. They are all dressed in classic nurse uniforms with light blue dresses and white caps and collars. The nurse furthest right, who is Black and has dark hair styled under her cap, is looking towards the other two nurses, with a thought bubble alluding to ongoing "adventures." Above them, a sign reads "METRO GENERAL HOSPI" in bold yellow letters against a dark background with stars. To the right, a "NEXT ISSUE" box teases "MORE TRUE-TO-LIFE ADVENTURES OF LINDA CARTER, NIGHT NURSE!", suggesting the central characters are nurses involved in exciting storylines. The warm, yellow interior of the hospital adds a touch of optimism to the scene.

This comic spread opens with a suburban scene, but quickly escalates. A van, labeled "Laredo Movers," is depicted in violent motion, crashing through a wooden fence and colliding with a tree. The word "SLAM" is emblazoned across the panel, emphasizing the impact. Shards of glass and splintered wood fill the air, creating a sense of extreme chaos and destruction. Text boxes provide narration, referencing a typical morning turning crazy and a character calling out, "Clint! This way, man. I got you." The art style is gritty and dynamic, conveying a high-stakes and action-packed moment. This comic page captures a moment of intense conflict, opening with a phone displaying "MARNIE Incoming..." amidst an argument between angry cowboys. One shouts about "accidents" and "lynching," while another laments that they "moved here it would be a nice town." The artwork shifts to intense close-ups of eyes reflecting betrayal and anguish, with captions like "THEY HAVE BETRAYED THIS COUNTRY" and "And it's always someone else's fault." The overall mood is one of heated dispute and disillusionment. This comic spread features multiple panels with a diverse cast and conversational dialogue. One panel focuses on a blonde woman being admired, while another shows a woman with glasses looking distressed amidst political slogans and discarded soda cans. Other panels depict men in intense conversation, one expressing discontent with aging and another with a bleak outlook on immigration and societal division. The overall mood is one of heated discourse and internal reflection, punctuated by gritty artwork and bold text.

Got this rad ashcan of upcoming @darkhorse.com American Caper for Patreoning my pal @chrisacomics.bsky.social. Chris is doing finishes on David “Warriors of Plasm” Lapham, from a story by GTA vets. Looks rad, and all too timely. Also got this punchy porcine pop! Patreon FTW #comicbooks #comicsky
The back cover of "American Caper" #1 graphic novel showcases a striking, chaotic illustration. A monstrous face dominates, its swirling eye hinting at madness. Surrounding it are scenes of gambling: dice, playing cards, and people engaged in a high-stakes game, some appearing distressed. The color palette is dark and moody, emphasizing the comic's theme of damaged families amidst corruption. The tagline promises a darkly humorous story. Pre-order information directs readers to local comic shops, Dark Horse Comics, and Absurd Ventures.A gritty, graphic novel panel showcases a dramatic moment. Multiple characters are engaged in a heated argument filled with profanity. The art style is dark and intense, emphasizing the violent energy of the scene. A character appears to be injured or attacked, with splatter effects suggesting a forceful impact. The word "KRASH" is prominently displayed, highlighting the climactic event. The overall mood is one of raw emotion, tension, and impending danger.A striking image showcases the cover of a graphic novel titled "Three-Headed Pigman." The cover art depicts a powerful, stylized pig character wearing a futuristic, partially mechanical suit in shades of pink and green. The pig's design blends organic and mechanical elements, creating a unique cyberpunk aesthetic. The title is bold, with a retro-futuristic font in lime green and pink, adding to the overall dynamic energy of the piece. The artist's signature is subtly included at the bottom. The book rests on a light wood surface, suggesting a relaxed yet intriguing display.A close-up shot showcases a vibrant, psychedelic comic book spread. The art style is detailed and grotesque, featuring a large, pink, bio-organic creature traversing space, consuming worlds. Speech bubbles reveal the narrative – a being devouring planets and incorporating the "heads of its highest intellectual inhabitants" into its body as a form of propulsion. The overall mood is dark, surreal, and humorous, contrasting the cosmic horror with casual dialogue. A smaller figure in the lower right corner seems to be reacting to the events.

This is my #ncbd : I got my copy (39 of 500) of the second printing of @beetlemoses.bsky.social’s sweet, funny, funky, fresh comic, “The Flyer.” I’ve loved his webcomics for a good while, so it’s awesome to get a longer story—and one I can hold in my hands! #comicsky #comicbooks #newcomicbookday
A close-up shows a hand holding a vibrant comic book. The cover features a striking illustration of a cartoon creature with bat-like ears, dark fur, and bright red eyes. It's dressed in a green top and black pants and holds a piece of paper. Beside it is a smaller, similarly stylized green creature. The background is a dynamic swirl of red, white, and blue stripes, creating a bold and energetic visual. The overall style is reminiscent of graphic novels and independent comics, giving a sense of quirky and artistic energy. This image shows a two-page spread from a comic book. The style is reminiscent of cartoons, with bold outlines and bright colors. The panels depict a bizarre scene: a large, brown, furry monster with purple hands holds up a lineup-style photo of several faces, seemingly examining them. Another panel shows a smaller creature emerging from the ground, emitting a green mist. In the background of multiple panels, a bright blue sky and a city street are visible. Surrounding characters seem surprised or disturbed. The overall mood is playful yet slightly unsettling, capturing a bizarre comedic moment.A person on a bus holds open a small, square book. The left-hand page features a striking illustration of a pink and purple nebula swirling against a dark space backdrop, speckled with white stars. The right page is black with a minimalist white line drawing of a stylized hiker carrying a large backpack and holding a long staff. The contrast between the cosmic scene and the simple figure creates a captivating juxtaposition. The overall aesthetic suggests adventure and exploration.A hand holds a vibrant red booklet, the second edition of "Beetle Nooses," printed in 2025. Numbered 39 of 500, it features an illustration of a charming ladybug playing a trumpet, set against a whimsical white speech bubble. The author's signature adds a personal touch. The image evokes a feeling of excitement and perhaps collecting a limited edition item.
