Oof. I placed this order back in Late May. Unfortunately Captain Flip's expansion's release date keeps getting pushed back. Here's to hoping it ships real soon. These are the only boardgames I have bought all year & I don't even have them. How do people Kickstart games. Waiting sucks

My sad little #boardgame playlist for September. With elementary-aged kids and a teacher spouse, Septembers are sparse for game nights as school kicks off. We used a game night as a session 0 for D&D, which was acceptable as we got a D&D day in as well.

My Carcassonne box is very worn as well! Also 6 Nimmt has been played so much that the cards are wearing. My group loves the game. I like the wear so long as cards aren't marked.

That's a cool way to do it. The DM did push us to decide when we snuck up on a group of enemies, and the end result was the group hemmed and hawed as I tried to push them to decide quickly and we lost our sneak advantage because we took too long. So that was good.

Ha. Awkward. We pushed them along & gave them like 2 options. We also let them discover EVERYTHING in a room despite the DM increasing the difficulty & it damaging them. They went down early in the boss battle because of that damage...but I doubt they connected those 2 things. I did heal them.

My boardgame group played D&D last weekend. All of us were new except for the DM. It was a ton of fun. I think we'll continue our campaign at some point here. I was curious how our AP-prone member would do & it was what I expected, still AP but at least we could move them along most of the time.

I add little boardgame backgrounds with quotes on them for my work Zoom backgrounds from time to time. Normally it's just my shelves behind me but I think it's fun to switch it up.

Yeah definitely more downtime. What got me is that there are still the same number of tiles in a 3P game as a 6P. So you just get half as many turns to do anything. So I only play it at the 3 or 4 player count.

I think a lot of heavier games often play best at 3. Reduces down time. If the game is highly reactive, also having more than 3 players can make your turn feel like you have less agency on the game. I think these play best at 3: Imhotep, Scoville, Five Tribes, Clank! Planet Unknown.

Nice. Yes, I think people should have one super nice dexterity game in their collection when they really get into games. Crokinole looks super fun. I went all in on PitchCar for my collection since my game group usually has 4-6 players show up each week.

Will be my first real crack at D&D this wknd. My friend, an experienced DM, is running an all day mini-campaign/1 shot. 7 players, all w/ no experience. Session 0 is taking over boardgame night on Thursday to prep for it. Wish us luck! I'm playing a Path of Glory Paladin based on Don Quixote.

Lucky you escaped. Nothing is more miserable than being trapped in an extremely long game that you were not prepared for. Got conned into a 7P game of Caverna once. Agonizing. Stopped going to their game nights after that despite me being the one who introduced them to boardgames to begin with.

As someone who grew up reading hobby magazines, Senet would be right up my alley as a boardgamer. Unfortunately I live in the US so ordering back issues would cost about $15 a piece after shipping. I don't think I can justify that. Maybe one day they'll print in the US.

It's weird being an adult sometimes. Like hey I just ordered a turtle sand-timer to decorate my boardgame shelves & I'm chuffed about it. Not that I love turtles (I have nothing else turtle in my house) but I had a pet turtle as a child & also the shell pattern is hexes which has boardgame vibes.
