Yes! We're planning on nominating for both Pushcart and Touchstone this year. There's a chance depending that staring next year we'll nominate for more than just those two. I'll be updating our chillsubs and Duotrope pages soon so that you all have the latest. [Thread]

Themes? Each January issue will usually be more serious, while the May issue will be lighthearted. If the birds love your work and it doesn't fit each issue, there's still a chance it MIGHT end up in the blog, fair warning ;) And uh I think finally, noms? [Thread]

Speaking of the website, what about your url? Wasn't it different at one point? Yes! Previously I was paying for wix premium and had to switch to the free version while I was in the middle of a major move. I've settled now, and so end of October we'll switch back. [Thread]

The Periwinkle Pelican || @periwinklepelican.bsky.social · 06/10/2025

What about the blog/archive function on your website? It'll still get used, and I'll still do my usual share posts, but it'll now be used to highlight individual pieces from each issue! I love all of y'all and your work and want to still give it its flowers. [Thread]

For sake of not burning ourselves out, we are changing a bit. We'll be publishing two issues, twice a year. One will release each January, and the other each May. We're still going to take a hiatus every summer, meaning no activity June-August. [Thread]

The Periwinkle Pelican || @periwinklepelican.bsky.social · 06/10/2025

Theme?: 'I am learning to let the soft animal of my body love what it loves.' Responses?: the goal is to get them all out by end December. Going to be changing our pub structure! What does that mean? [Thread]

I need to put some stuff to the side. You all deserve nothing but my best and I want so badly to give it. So…after issue two, that’s it for us for now. I move in August, so you can expect to see what our final fate is then. Thanks guys. I’m sorry.

020

The Periwinkle Pelican || @periwinklepelican.bsky.social · 01/02/2025

I haven’t been able to give my best for a while. And that’s not any of your faults. I’m just…very deeply mentally ill and so much is happening in my life and the world right now. So…I need to think. I need to learn to want to live again. 🧵

But guys. I am unwell. I’m burnt out. When I started this it was for the joy of it, for connecting with all you gorgeous wonderful talented people. I cared and still care so much about what we do and every time I think about you gorgeous people I am just struck with gratitude 🧵

The Pelican is going to be going on hiatus. For now, it’ll be temporary. I’m going to be getting busy with ren faire this spring and im trying to plan a major cross state move. I just bought a car, so I don’t know if keeping things going is doable in the short term for me. 🧵

100

The Periwinkle Pelican || @periwinklepelican.bsky.social · 01/02/2025

hey guys. lets chat. just clearing it up before anyone asks. Issue two will still be happening. We’re still reading and things will still happen according to schedule. We’re about halfway through everyone. But man. I hate to say this. I’ve agonized over this. But i gotta. 🧵

070

The Periwinkle Pelican || @periwinklepelican.bsky.social · 04/01/2025

also just putting it out there since it was asked no the issue two theme isn’t ‘the truth is I want to live’ it is absolutely ‘the truth is I want to want to live’ the double want is intentional like the thing that you want is the desire to live. You might not want to live but you want to want it
