That’s because it is poorly designed to be used that way. The first problem is that my face inevitably does something to the call while I am talking. The second is that 90% of the time, I have to use my phone to look something up or some such while I am on it. (I use a headset, fyi.)

Consent was a 2-hour talk with my oldest son. Especially around porn not being real and that real girls have thoughts, feelings, etc. Not being a bystander to sexual harassment was the most recent. Every day seems to be a new thing that men do to women that I have just gotten used to.

The soaking and boiling of salt fish never bothered me too much. I mean, there was a smell but it was tolerable. (Plus, sometimes, there was no boiling because my nan was making fish cakes. Fried in scrunchin leavings.)

This reminds me of ‘mackerel’ day. Once a year, in the summer, my grandma would make mackerel. It had to be on a day when all the windows and doors would be open because the smell was fierce. Didn’t stop any of us eating it, though.

True. Also, money is fungible. We had our basement destroyed by a flood and not enough insurance. Suddenly, our priorities have shifted and things that were ‘cheap’ before are now skipped so we can eventually get our house back in order. Priorities are different in every household.

We got a puppy 10 years ago. He ate a lot of furniture before we found the right chewing outlet. Then he mellowed and is the best dog ever. Fast forward and we got another puppy this year. Same breed. Also ate everything until we found his preferred outlet. It’s the small price we pay.

It’s a bad year for them here. I’ve had to deal with many cicada corpses. If I leave them the dogs eat them. And they are so freaking loud! Now that the sun is down, I can hear frogs and crickets. Much more calming. (Niagara region in Ontario)

Found the source. It includes mortgages. Sigh. With housing prices so ridiculous, that is a terrible measuring stick. If my house was worth a million (which is common in the GTA) and I had paid off half off it, I would have 500 000 in debt. Which is not how any of this works.

I live in the Niagara region. There is no cherry like one still warm from the sun off the tree here. Worth the double cost. It’s a short season. Though it means that my fruit-obsessed husband takes the long way everywhere just in case there is a family fruit stand.
