this totally unlocked childhood memories of secretly watching this dude host Friday late night double feature horror movies on a little b&w tv.
A man with hair shaping his face like owl horns, wearing owl glasses, a t-shirt picturing a cartoon owl, and a black leather jacket.

Frederick C. Peerenboom, better known as Fritz the Nite Owl (born December 27, 1934, in Nekoosa, Wisconsin), is an American radio and television personality in Columbus, Ohio.

honestly the whole graf is great don’t have time to know what I’m talking about bc social media is now
I haven't seen the film. This means I cannot confidently assess its editing, corroboration, or the full testimony it presents. I would love to live in a world in which I could wait, watch the movie, and have a sober debate about its claims.
Unfortunately, the discourse online is not so patient. That's why it's necessary to examine the argument its makers have published, the reporting on which it builds, and the standards by which its allegations should be judged. The film falls short on every dimension.

The document states that the successful contractor won't be asked to collect and share party affiliation data fields for voters but that could change if "explicitly directed in writing by the contracting officer." That contracting officer is listed as Michael Royer, section chief at Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative unit within ICE. ICE, DHS, and Royer did not respond to a request for comment.

Watching s1e12 and wondered if it was the finale (lots of gratuitous explosions and stunts) so I searched:
DuckDuckGo search “how many episodes in airwolf season 1”

The so-called search assist replies “Season 1 of Airwolf has 11 episodes.”

Note which episode # I was on.

According to the affidavit, the LPD received a public information request on Aug. 14 regarding Klein's use of the Flock system. The LPD audited Klein's searches and found they were inconsistent with criminal investigations before reporting the findings to the Texas Rangers.

lawyers in 2026 learning that words sent to a website are discoverable
Beyond this being a highly interesting case on its own merits, it shows that ChatGPT transcripts can be obtained by opposing lawyers in discovery or during depositions. Moye said
"every lawyer needs to make sure their own experts aren't generating work product in a way that's insincere, and then knowing you can subpoena the prompts [.] I've got lawyers all over the place saying, 1) 'Holy shit, man. How did you get the prompts?, and 2) 'How many cases do I have where this is happening to us?'"'

this is getting ridiculous www.wired.com/story/securi...
As difficult as digital anonymity has become in the modern world, obtaining a phone number without revealing almost any identifying information-whether by buying a temporary burner phone or registering an account with a privacy-preserving phone carrier-has remained entirely legal in the US. Now the Federal Communications Commission wants to change that.

Late last month, the FCC released a proposal for a new rule that would implement know-your-customer requirements for cellular networks, requiring that cellular providers "at a minimum, obtain and retain the name, physical address, government issued identification number, and an alternate telephone number of any new and renewing customer before granting access to its services." The proposal is described as a measure akin to money-laundering laws designed to make it more difficult for scammers to exploit the phone networks. But privacy advocates argue it also threatens a last conduit of anonymity for those seeking to evade phone surveillance-whether that's journalists, whistleblowers, activists, or simply people seeking to avoid mass data collection in yet another facet of their communications.

Villegas *could* simply write this ordinance to not apply to people who smoke in public, but instead he points to police and prosecutorial discretion to sort it out, who will use that discretion in biased ways.
"I don't think there will be a judge that says, I'm going to throw the book at you because you're smoking weed in a park," Villegas said.Asked about the possibility of people who use marijuana in public being hit with the heightened penalties, Villegas said enforcement would be "at the discretion of a police officer." It is more likely that police would ask rule-breakers to move along or stop it, but officers would gain a much-needed tool if smokers — or sellers -— refuse to, he said.

Fox News described this as a “mixed reaction” with “some cheering.”
As the national anthem was being sung, Trump was shown on the MSG big screen above the court, and a mixed reaction from the crowd ensued.

While there was some cheering, as Trump saluted the crowd from his suite, the boos from those in attendance rang louder before the video panned back to NYPD officers holding flags on the court.

I mean… is he really dead?
Yellow Banana's annual report filed to the Illinois Secretary of State on May 3 listed Canfield as the company's only manager, three weeks after his death. Businesses are required to file an annual report with the state, confirming or updating company information, and pay required fees in order to maintain good standing.

His name is signed below a promise that
"managers confirm their existence," and that the document is "true, correct and complete."

A Secretary of State spokesman says the company didn't notify the office of Canfield's death. The office is now reviewing the case.

No obituary for Canfield or social posts from family members could be found. His podcast's Linkedin page made a post advertising the skills of "my producer James," nearly a month after Canfield's death.

Canfield's mother, Kathy Middleton, and wife, Sharin, didn't respond to requests for comment.
A search of Guyahoga County, Ohio, court records show no probate case has been opened, nor does Canfield's name appear in the county’s online database of deaths.

Tomorrow will be exactly 3 months since a reporter angered Trump by suggesting he might bore of his new war. Trump claimed he “never gets bored” before meandering into talking about his ballroom. Now he says negotiations are “very boring.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
"We projected four to five weeks but we have capability to go far longer than that. We'll do it ...
Somebody actually said, from the media, I think you'll get bored after about a week or two. No, we don't get bored. I never get bored, if I got bored, I wouldn't be standing here right now. I guarantee you that. To go through what I had to go through."

The ceremony bestowed the Medal of Honor to three service members, including staff sergeant Michael Ollis, who died in Afghanistan. But it was Trump's ballroom comments that caused a stir on social media.

Susan Glasser, a staff writer at the New Yorker, posted on X: "Bragging about his 'beautiful ballroom' while he's supposed to be explaining the somber decision to go to war. It's one of the most politically tone deaf things I've ever seen from a POTUS, including this one..."

here’s a recent example: remember the car crash into City News @ Six Corners a few weeks ago? this is what cpd told media. In reality, cops pursued this car for about a mile, and the car had not been reported stolen at all. Cops woke up the car owner after the crash and then it was reported stolen.
Police said officers were on patrol when they saw a black Kia blowing through red lights in the area. The car matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier.

Officers turned on their sirens and tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away, police said.
The driver then lost control of the car and crashed into City News Cafe, officials said. Two of the people in the car were arrested at the scene and two others fled on foot, but were
quickly taken into custody.

Far from the worst thing we found while reporting on Lt. Daniel Miller, this complaint from a white man stood out as a particularly insidious way for Miller to push his apparent ideology: sorry man I have to give you this ticket because DEI. This stop also was not in his jurisdiction.
Another, from 2024, alleges Miller pulled them over for an expired tag and told the recipient that he had to give him a ticket to “keep up with diversity.” The complaint alleges Miller told the person the police department is being audited to “ensure they are giving the same amount to Blacks and whites.”
