I have a new story up on @literotica.com, a collaboration with Scarlett Steele, aka KittyOfSteele! Clean Girls, Dirty Soda. To escape Barcelona's underbelly, two young LDS missionary women must risk trusting a stranger. I hope you'll give it a read! www.literotica.com/s/clean-girl...

Anthro's story is so beautiful and sad (possibly triggeringly so for some people, so take care) and joyful, a magical little story about a trans woman dying of cancer who receives a sudden offer...

It will require a critical mass of content to get a reader to come back to the site more than once... But filling in some back catalogs on a site with a better reading interface is a good start! (I need to sit down and add more of my stuff...)

What I love most about writing Scout, though, is that ultimately they are happy and successful and loved with all of those traits intact. None of those aspects are problems to solve or flaws to excise, they win by embracing their identities, and by allowing themselves to be embraced by others 🥰

Also, not everyone works this way, but I adore the social aspect of being part of a beta-reading circle. I get so excited to see other writer's works take shape, we become each other's biggest fans, it's so encouraging and collegial!

A delightfully talented sketch artist has decided that he's inspired by some of my stories, and has been sending me some works in progress... It's making my day, I'm going to see if he'll let me share some of them here with credit!

Personally I'm a big fan of having a beta-reader or two give my stories a once-over before publishing! They often catch mistakes, and can also be a huge help in suggesting tweaks to tone, pacing, character motivation, descriptions... My beloved beta readers always make my stories better 🥰

It's about loss, estrangement, and the hope of reconciliation. A precocious and slightly annoying college-age daughter tries to push her separated parents back together using trickery, music, bad weather, and her knowledge of 18th century philosophy😅

The "Loving Wives" story category on @literotica.com is notoriously touchy and difficult to please, containing multiple factions of readers that want different things. So of course @actingup170.bsky.social and I co-wrote an LW story 😍 www.literotica.com/s/it-just-ai...

No rhyme or reason to it, that I've seen. Many stories are still getting approved and published within 48 hours or less. I haven't submitted a new story in a couple of months, but I'm getting close to finishing a new one, so we'll see what happens... 🤷‍♀️

010

Penny Thompson @pennythompson.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

I personally have no complaints, I've been blessed with wonderful story comments, my ratings have been good, I've talked to and collaborated with amazing writers! I want Lit to last forever, it's a bastion of un-enshittified creative community!

Penny Thompson @pennythompson.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

Some authors are seeing loooonnngg delays with the publishing queue, weeks and weeks for some. I'm seeing hints that the site's sole admin/owner isn't as active or engaged as they used to be. Transparent communication was never their strong suit, but I'm worried that it's getting worse 😐

010

Penny Thompson @pennythompson.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

I want that to be true, I hope that it is! But there are other signs of platform decline besides just the publishing queue problems, and I'm worried about a cascade of authors fleeing. I'm not planning on going anywhere! I just think that maybe I should be publishing in more than one place.

Ao3 seems like total anarchy to me, my brain can't even parse what I'm looking at any time I go there and try to find stories to read. Are there other options I should be looking at, or am I missing something with these other sites?

110

Penny Thompson @pennythompson.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

I've tentatively toyed with @gettheoreads.bsky.social, slick looking, but absolutely zero reader engagement of any kind. I like a lot of what Wattpad has going on in terms of interface, but I don't think I understand what reader expectations are there...

Penny Thompson @pennythompson.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

Given how things are going on @literotica.com, I think I should probably not be keeping all of my erotica eggs in one basket... but what are the most viable alternatives for my kind of weird-but-mostly-vanilla smut?
