DYK? Over 8% of all food and beverage purchases in PA are paid for by SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps). Drastic cuts to federal SNAP funding not only take food away from people who need it, but they will also hurt our local grocery stores.
Text-heavy graphic with a quote from Joe Garrity, co-owner of Garrity’s Supermarkets, which is "SNAP benefits provide crucial support for people in the communities we serve. On average, 7% of our store sales come from SNAP purchases with our highest store receiving 12% of sales from SNAP. This assistance is especially vital for families in Northeast Pennsylvania, where many households rely on SNAP to put food on the table amid rising costs and economic uncertainty."

For many small businesses in PA, they earn income where they operate and pay taxes based on that. But our tax structure allows big, multistate corps to move profits across jurisdictions, reducing the amount of income subject to state taxation. They pay less and PA loses out on much-needed revenue.
