So... can we talk about this

a digital drawing of two booths at an 'indie comics show'. one on the left featuring fanart print walls and the one on the right selling comics

I think they look like carved puppets or dolls. I kinda wish they pushed that a bit further and maybe even gave all the characters balls joints. Maybe that’s a step too far for people though

I think that something I've learned is that the UK scene is very sadly quite split into the different territories with only a few folks crossing over. Travel is so expensive for such a small island. I think that we could stand to see more Tran-fem creatives in the UK as a whole. 3 is not a lot. 🙁

- That said I think that having more voices and the perspectives they will inherently have could only help build our space up. I have a few ideas of how to play this. I'm sure you'll here more from me. If you are a trans-woman making comics in Scotland email me

020

Peejalien @peejalien.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

- oppression can not be quantified like points in a game. It cannot be measured against more oppression. Nobody wins when someone is being stepped on by the systems that govern them. The mere fact that we have so many wonderful trans people in the space in defiance of that is worth celebrating -

120

Peejalien @peejalien.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

- I am wondering what I can do for my peoples to make our perspectives more heard. I think that trans women have it hard in the media right now and the encouragement they might need to come up is not there. That is also no to diminish what trans-men, trans-mascs and non-binary people are facing -

110

Peejalien @peejalien.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Re this thread. I want to say that this is not a woe is me kinda thing. I do well. Moreover I think that there are a great deal of trans voices in this space and I celebrate that. I love comics and creators by trans-men, trans-mascs and non-binary people. -

131

Peejalien @peejalien.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

I also entered the scene as non-binary (I still am, I am also a Trans woman.) I wonder if that made things easier for me. I wanna know what the hurdles are from my fellow Trans Woman so I might be able to help.

110

Peejalien @peejalien.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

I have faced a few micro aggressions from people in every position in my time in the space and I wonder if that kind of behaviour from a group that is largely excepting might be what is stopping some people.

Caught up with @johnlees.bsky.social and picked up the latest Sink!, which is great Glasgow horror. Chatted with @davecook.bsky.social for a bit about kickstarters and getting projects done. And like Killtopia, the next issue of Karrot Can't Sleep from @peejalien.bsky.social is hitting kickstarter.

Three comics. 1. Sink Halloween Special, cover showing a turnip lantern, a thing of horror. 2. Killtopia Phantom - a black woman, with Cyberpunk glasses, one lens green and spiralling, the other blue. 3. Karrot Can't Sleep - a green haired figure seems to drop from the sky, in one hand a hammer and the other a stake, behind there is a smirking vampire and a spikey jackalope.
