I know I complain about this every time I make cornbread, but every comment under every recipe is about how real southern cornbread doesn’t have sugar, or wheat flour, or has to be made in a skillet, blah blah fucking blah. We know! Everyone knows! Go eat your sawdust bread and leave us alone.

I read Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great when I was a kid, and then we moved to upstate New York, and then Disney’s Halloween Treat came out on TV, and I became convinced that the Headless Horseman was going to come riding down our street any day and get me.

There are so many movies coming out in October that we just bought a membership to the local indie cinema (and we would probably break even just from the month except they’re not accepting vouchers for The Devils).

if you’re a dude thinking “i’ve never done anything disgusting” (citations needed) then you’ve more than likely sat there quietly while your friend did something disgusting or bragged about doing something disgusting. you cannot absolve yourself.

i hope that men notice how whenever a rape story gets widespread coverage, women use it as an opportunity to vent about how fucking disgusting we think many of you are and how many have made our lives measurably worse, and take a few moments to deeply process that.

I’m a bi gal married to a bi guy. Our relationship is queer, but it’s received by most people as straight, which means we have pseudo-straight privilege (that might be revoked at any time). It can be hard to navigate, but a bi for bi relationship is awesome, and worth it.

Two recent cute and cozy games I’ve played and enjoyed are Cozy Caravan, and Woodo. In the first you drive around making deliveries and helping people out, with little cooking and sewing mini-games. In the second, you solve hidden object puzzles to uncover a sweet narrative.
A scene at camp in Cozy Caravan, featuring the caravan, Rigby (the giant bee that pulls the caravan), Bubba (your frog cousin, who drives the caravan), and the player character (a customizable animal, in this case a kitty) around a campfire.A scene from Woodo after you solve one of the first puzzles. It features a cottage with a garden and a doghouse, and a fox with a backpack bearing chased by goats and geese

The problem is that "while you weren't looking the tech industry was comprehensively taken over by a cult based around a piece of Harry Potter fanfic" is self-evidently an absolutely ridiculous claim that can't possibly have happened, which is a real problem given that it 100% did happen.

Every time I see a list of someone’s favorite folk horror films, I become less sure of what a folk horror film is. Which is to say, while I have my own personal criteria for what goes into one, there isn’t any kind of general consensus on the subject. Except maybe antlers

I didn’t care for this season of Silo, which is a little sad, because I liked the 1st season a lot more than I was expecting, and I eventually really enjoyed the 2nd season as well (it took a good long while to get going). These are always funny because I don’t have a strong Boston accent, so I don’t think of myself as having much of an accent at all, and then I take one of these, and after a few questions it never wavers out of New England.
A dialect map of the US with New England highlighted as ‘most like you’ and the southern US as ‘least like you’. It reads ‘You talk most like someone from Massachusetts — about 58% of your answers match a typical resident.’
