I'm making more progress on my @elonuniversity.bsky.social and @queensuniv.bsky.social merger cost story, focusing more on the alumni side of things now. I've talked to some alumni, one who is a board member, and am hoping to hear from members of the Alumni teams at both schools.

My reporting for my #JOU4970 story on Elon & Queens' merger is continuing steadily. I've spoken with a student who went to both schools, a professor from each, and am making plans to talk to board members and administrators from both school.

It was great having @jsmithrichards.bsky.social in #JOU4970 class last week. We got to talk about her recent education investigative stories and the processes she used. She taught us so much about how to contact sources, respect privacy and ask hard questions. Thank you for visiting us!

Reporting for #JOU4970 on Queens and Elon merger is starting up. I've looked into the accreditation for the two schools' merger and have reached out to a former Queens student about her experience. I have also begun talking to faculty & staff about their thoughts on the changes. More to come soon.

In my #JOU3400 class, I'm interested in writing a literary/narrative story looking at two subjects: one who had an abortion and her experience, and another who chose not to have an abortion and her experience. I want to learn about how these choices look for real people and show that to my readers.

For my first story for #JOU4970, I am interested in investigating @elonuniversity.bsky.social's merger with @queensuniv.bsky.social. I want to learn about what this will cost, why Elon is doing this, what the future will look like for these schools and how students will be affected.

This year, I am a Senior journalism student at Elon University taking the classes #JOU3400 Literary Journalism, #JOU4970 Reporting Capstone and #STC3702 Brand Identity. I'm interested in long-term investigative reporting on education, crime & justice and other stories that dig deep into data.
