my take is, we - as cultures & a species - build stories. when we relax our human obsession with THE final answer, that MUST be LOGICAL, vast skies of possibilities open up! some of these get honed into working "answers" for particular immediate questions, but folly to chase a 'theory of it all'!

(neuro)psychologist here. since my earliest education and training for this, & going forward to my retirement, i was instantly struck by the overwhelming volume of cases that included sexual assault, esp incest, but also early rape by men they knew. shaming the victim allows perps to dodge shame.
