Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil is so good. I have no fucking idea why any fan of the franchise would hate on it. The film feels like a fucking video game, with the lead character finding himself in a number of distinct ‘zones’. And the body horror creations are spot on. Go see if you haven’t already.

Went to watch Transformers The Movie for its 40th anniversary. That film barely stops for its 85 minutes. It’s still loads of fun. Way better than the Michael Bay nonsense. And the little short at the end was very nice.

And Metroid Prime 4 was fun. And I’ve just received the new Fire Emblem (which is probably my favourite franchise on Nintendo systems).

As I got out of the Sony/Microsoft game after PS3/360, I’m happy to get to play those games I missed. I’ve got to play both FF7 remakes + Fallout 4 + Assassins Creed Shadows + Star Wars Outlaws. It’s been great. They just need to give me Baldur’s Gate 3 and I’ll be set.

Technically speaking, the GameCube is 25 years old this week (though we in the UK didn’t see it until 2002). Despite it being considered a flop, it’s probably the console I’ve loved the most. So many brilliant games, though some Nintendo franchises were better served than others.

Ed Sheeran is a coward. He could have stood up to the stadium owners but he chose not to.

Kind of liked the Minutemen but it seemed like I was being pushed to dump them for the Railroad at one point, to progress the story.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I think I’m almost done with Fallout 4. Having all the DLC content meant it felt like too much. Trying to now race through the end of the main story. Think I’ll stick with the Railroad rather than jumping ship to the Institute. I dumped the Brotherhood as soon as I could.

Does mean we’re binging more tv though.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Wife’s cancer treatment has definitely reduced our cinema viewing this year. Still going more than an average person but nothing like the last two years. The last couple of months only had around 2-3 visits in a month.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Saw both the Camp Miasma movie and The Incomer. Both excellent movies. Both a little bit weird. Still meaning to see The End of Oak Street but I guess it’s had very little buzz around it so maybe it’s not something I should worry about missing.

I might finally give up on them if they continue with this kind of nonsense.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

If we ever got independence, I’d not want the SNP to shape the country we become. Their obsession to centralise everything is not the way to go. If we ever become our own country, we need to embolden communities to have more say in their own community. That’s never been on offer from the SNP sadly.

100

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

As a traditional SNP voter, I can’t help thinking that shrinking the health boards down to two is a terrible idea. The west will become heavily Glasgow-centric. The east Edinburgh-centric. Things will likely get worse for everybody else.

The Apple TV love continues as my wife and I finally give Slow Horses a go. Really enjoyed that first season.

The Vegas episodes were a lot of fun. As were the Ron Howard one, the noir one and the set visit one.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

Catching up with The Studio and really enjoying it (so far). A show about Hollywood that’s very cinematic-literate.

Heard today of a genuine incident of someone changing their plans to stay in Glasgow (overnight) because of the BBC documentary. Feel like I need to watch it. My guess from the reports, is that there will be zero balance.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

Binge watched another cancelled show. The Copenhagen Test was a fun spy romp that had shades of Bourne, Bond, Wick and countless other movies of the same genre. But it was good fun. The performances were good. Kinda wanted to see how crazy it was all going to get. Was it going to go all Alias on us?

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

Got to see the end of this chapter though. Looking forward to the last part when we get it next year.

Had to drop down to easy because my patience had worn thin but finally finished Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. That last boss fight was too long. Given the full heal Cloud for the last fight, why couldn’t they make that a save checkpoint? Easy was too easy in the end.

130

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

The early island hops in The Odyssey reminded me of our Curse of Strahd D&D campaign. Go to a place. Encounter a thing. Realise thing is more powerful than you. Run away.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Twice I got Sephiroth down to his last little bit of health, twice he totally fucked me. I deliberately held off summoning the summon until I got there and it took the option to summon away from me. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrghhhhhhh!

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

For my own sanity, I think I have to concede and drop the level for the final battle in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Life’s too short and I’m clearly rubbish. And every time I fully quit out, I need to play over an hour of boss fight all over again. Absolutely infuriating.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Enjoyed Spider-man: Brand New Day. Continues to be one of the best characters in the MCU. The other MCU characters dropping in were a nice touch that reminds us he’s part of a bigger thing, but this is his story.

I think Infantino might have fucked himself. Seems more dodgy than anything Blatter was accused of.

110

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 31/07/2026

His (Jared) brother runs the company that would get a 20% share. With zero consultation and zero putting it out to tender. So fucking dodgy. Total corruption.

Everything Trump touches turns to shit. He’s even ruined football. There’s no way he hasn’t been part of this FIFA debacle.

I hate to think the damage done to Glasgow’s reputation after the anti-immigration gathering that took place yesterday - whilst we host 70-odd countries for the Commonwealth Games. And this comes after me mentioning how welcoming the city was the previous weekend for Glasgow Pride.

110

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

Saw Moana (remake) yesterday. I enjoyed it because it’s pretty much an exact copy of the animation and I really like the animation. Don’t need to see it again because I really like the animation. Still think Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast were the high points of this current Disney trend.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Despite having less player interactivity, I think I’d stick with also long playtime Ark Nova. The zoo theme of that game is what does it for me. Wasn’t a Pokémon person so that part of the WC theme didn’t matter to me.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Game took a long time with four. Definitely at least 3 hours, probably 3.5. Box says 80m. There’s a lot of AP in this game. All your pre-move plans can instantly crash because of someone else’s move.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Played Wondrous Creatures last night for the first time and I’m frustrated at the fact that I just never got an engine going. Never got refresh creatures. The one infinity creature I drew needed me to have refresh creatures. I basically went all in on instants. Came a distant second.

With Sarwar going, the top spot for Scottish Labour will be up for grabs. Hope someone campaigns on untethering themselves from UK Labour.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

So Anas Sarwar is quitting Holyrood for the House of Lords. Tells me everything I already knew about Anas Sarwar. The guy craves power and as far as he’s concerned, true power comes from Westminster. It’s interesting how easily failed Holyrood party leaders flock to the HoL.

Watched the Doomsday trailer and it looks….fine. I think my issue with Doom being the big bad in the big crossover movie is that it hasn’t been earned. Thanos and the Infinity Stones was there throughout the movies that built to Avengers Infinity War.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

The best team won the World Cup. I do wish Spain had more threat up front. Had they scored earlier, I think we’d have got a better game. Trump at the end was a total riddy. He’s such a narcissist. Infantino trying to get him out the way was pretty funny.

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Everyone needs to read ‘We Need To Tax Billionaires’. It’s a short read. Western civilisation is on the verge and the growing wealth gap is leading to its collapse. A wealth tax with zero loopholes. A wealth tax that follows you if you try to leave the country to live in a tax haven.

030

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

So many businesses looked to have full embraced the event too, which was wonderful.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Glasgow Pride was on in the city today whilst I was through there getting a haircut. This is the Glasgow I know and love. One that not only accepts folk for who they are, it celebrates them for who they are. A far cry from the bigoted nonsense coming from the ‘staunch brigade’ in their balaclavas.

110

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Been watching Traitors US with my wife. The finale is so fucking infuriating. A certain person was too fucking trusting of someone who shouldn’t have been trusted. They deserved to lose.

Greens or Lib Dems probably remain the only two good options if you live in England.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

He’s a chump if he’s trying to please Trump. Trump will keep asking for more every time he gets his way. It will never stop.

So Burnham is a climate science denier, he’s under the thumb of the oil&gas lobby, or he’s trying to appease orange Mussolini in Washington. Regardless of his reason to authorise further oil extraction, he’s showing that he’s not the progressive messiah and that he’s still a Blairite deep down.

111

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

That was last night’s film. Tonight I watched Dead of Winter starring Emma Thompson. A cracking thriller. Thompson’s the great form.

000

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

Enjoyed Ready or Not 2 apart from some man on woman violence that I just found a bit uncomfortable to watch. The ridiculousness of people just exploding into a bloody mess at least made up for some of the uncomfortableness. Two leads and the support cast are all top notch.

And despite knowing a particular character was going to die, I still had a tear in my eye when it happened.

010

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

Also - I’m at the end of the game and I’m level 49. How are you meant to complete the protorelic quest if all the mini battles are levels ranging from mid-60s to low-70s! I’m not grinding to get 20 levels higher.

100

Paul @pdunn75.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

I’m at the fourth stage of a boss fight and my controller lost power. If it makes me start from the beginning I won’t be happy. My only main grumble for both FFVII remakes is the length and frequency of boss fights towards the end of the game.
