Today in AI isn’t intelligent… apparently Anaheim and Santa Ana are now between Fullerton and Los Angeles.

My stepson (technically my ex’s son) dug up the Anchorman reference. That mural was spotted all too quick. And it’s a bit of a culture shock jumping on a train in Albuquerque and ending up here.
My ex’s son replied to my “I’m in San Diego” text with a picture from the movie Anchorman and the quote “They named it San Diego which of course in German means a whale’s vagina.” I happened upon a “Smile, you’re in San Diego” mural and made the appropriate “so… smile, you’re in a whale’s…” response. Here’s hoping someone’s stimulated.

From early evening yesterday in western New Mexico.

Airline excitement? My first flight lands in SLC just as a lightning strike forces the ground crews to shelter. Surprised the airport only had us wait 5 minutes.

After careful self-deliberation, I might want a form of this doll (though I doubt this exists in the wild).
Simulation of an advertisement for a referee doll to direct supposedly aggrieved parents to show where the ref hurt them.

She also adjusted her pace to ensure the injured cub could keep up. By 2008, he was observed hunting on his own & at the age of 20 is King of the Fat Bears, holding his own at the crowded Brook Falls. A story of a mother's love, sacrifice & a little cub who became a champion fat bear. 🥹

Shoutout to @meglinehan.com on marking 5 years since the NWSL coach misconduct story. Still a remarkable feat of reporting by her. Will never forget the long, intense process behind that piece and how it led to everything that has come after.

It is best that you don’t tell me the name of the ref for the Thorns game. That choice to bring the ball back for the previous foul instead of letting 4 seconds go before Turner was fouled. Letting the fouling Houston player (deep in our half) waste 30 seconds and the ref rewarded it.

If you dare go to Apple for your depraved MLS fix right now, it’s “this is what the USL was like in Seattle” night. Sans the Timbers, anyway.

Watching Campeones Cup for no good reason. On Miami’s 2nd goal… I highly doubt, this year, that the Timbers have defended a set piece as badly as what Cruz Azul just did.

When I refereed, the senior refs told a couple stories of the center ref dismissing (not carding) ARs. Seems to be big in Northern California BTW.

Apparently people are sharing this far and wide on social media, which I think is horrible. This could cripple ICE operations. PLEASE do not share this.

My mydialect results are only slightly surprising. My daughter ended up Bakersfield/Fresno (my wife grew up in Fresno, but she’s not the birth mom) and that’s a head-scratcher. I was really curious about my “stepson” for having to live in Florida the last few years. Santa Rosa/Reno/Fremont.

Yup. I am firmly convinced that a sizable chunk of the electorate is motivated by class resentment in the sense of “class” that has nothing to do with economics. And yeah, those people actively want trashy government.

It's worth stressing that we only know about ICE's secret surveillance of anti-ICE meetings through the discovery process initiated by the government's prosecutions of protesters. There is likely a lot we don't know, and that's alarming (as I try to show the piece/thread below).

If a particular streaming service- one that couldn’t make payments on NWSL coverage or two other major league teams- sends emails to FANS about their amazing WHL ad offers at $1,000 and up, is your hockey league brimming with confidence? Will Canadians bail out an American?

I regret to inform you that they have goth pet beds at Petco and now I have to get another one because the cat is jealous
It is our dog Momo peeking out from his new coffin-shaped pet bed, which has spiderwebs on the outside and says LAZY BONES with a skull and cross bones. The lid can open. Not visible is the werewolf chew toy that he is busy demolishing in the bed, which is why he’s giving a “what do you want?” look when I got his attention for the photo. Our cat, Jean-Luc, promptly plopped down right next to Momo’s new bed, and gave us a “how DARE you??” look because we did not get anything for him. But if we had gotten him a bed, he would have never slept in it even once. He will only accept things like beds or scratching posts if we leave them in a random place in the house and absolutely do not acknowledge under any circumstances that it is *for him.* Even better if we kick him off it the first few times he tries, making it clear that it is our thing and thus greatly increasing his interest in it.
