A little restoration in action along the Russian River! This project included bank stabilization and revegetation with live willow stakes and native sedge to reduce erosion and restore the riparian habitat along the bank.

PCI is proud to support The Nature Conservancy on this project, with construction by Wylatti Resource Management. Together, we’re working to restore habitat and improve conditions for endangered coho salmon.

PCI crews completed a series of pile burning operations for a private client as part of an integrated habitat preservation and fuel management strategy. Crews removed hazard trees, limbed live trees, and cleared select ladder fuels, while maintaining habitat islands of manzanita and honeysuckle.

PCI’s Crew completed their Arborist Chain Saw Safety Training Course! This two-day course with ACRT included time in the shop reviewing chainsaw safety, assembly and disassembly, useful knots, and tree inspection.

Our biology and construction teams planned, designed, and implemented revegetation along South Fork Battle Creek in Tehama County, where PG&E removed the Inskip Dam last summer. PCI installed over 600 native trees and shrubs, ranging from riparian species to upland trees and shrubs.

The final stage of the Colgan Creek restoration project in Santa Rosa was constructed! PCI developed concept plans with the city for the entire reach in 2001/ 2002 and in 2025 we developed 100% construction plans and provided construction oversight. www.pressdemocrat.com/2026/01/02/f...

PCI Ecological is working with the Tomales Bay Foundation and Marin County Parks on restoring wetlands at Chicken Ranch Beach near Inverness. Non-native trees were removed by Conservation Corps North Bay and Glissman Excavating is currently working to build enhanced wetland and riparian areas.

PCI’s biology team is supporting dewatering and native species relocation in the project area at Iron Horse Vineyards! Special-status species shown here include coho salmon, steelhead, and California freshwater shrimp. The team also encountered plenty of native sculpin, stickleback, and tree frogs.

Fish relocation is a critical step for in-stream construction projects. As required by the applicable permits, fish relocation occurs prior to in-stream activities to protect sensitive aquatic species that may be present. Here are some photos from a recent relocation effort with @nature.org
