Very excited there’s a new, non-fantasy, Marlon James book out. His Brief History of Seven Killings is probably my favourite novel of this century.

Blimey, size 7. Stands to reason then that my size 10 is why I’m not quite as good at kicking the ball.

Yeah I found it ok but kinda overrated.

Dom Szoboszlai is quite good at kicking the ball

Been meaning to read Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer since my early twenties; finally got around to it now. Christ almighty it’s dull!! I don’t think I’m going to finish it.

Instagram algorithms are pushing old Jonathan Richman videos my way. I guess they occasionally do work then.

I saw this coming... England always loses to Argentina in World Cups in which Norway has beaten Brazil 2-1.

Downtown Oslo after the match was insane. The bubble we're currently in is totally unprecedented, I've never experienced anything like it.

I'll never forget Espana 1982 as I was there watching matches, but this is the reason South Africa 2010 will forever have a big place in my heart. Three games a day with a newly football-struck 6 1/2 year old was very very special. I will not hear a bad word about vuvuzelas from anyone.

World Cup 2026: The same but different - the beauty of the first World Cup with your child

There is nothing like the first World Cup you can enjoy with your kid - and the wide-eyed wonder through which they see it.

That’s what they’re there for I reckon, not so much health concerns.

An addition to everything shit about the world cup; hydration breaks.

I'm slightly upset wth myself for only now realizing that Jobim's "Insensatez" is based on the same Chopin prelude as "Jane B." by Gaisnbourg & Birkin.

My favourite film, finally out on Bluray. Having initially seen it in the cinema in the early 1990s, I subsequently wanted a copy so bad I paid a guy in Hong Kong my dad knew 100 US$ for a dupe of a VHS Rental tape.

I'm not of the surprisingly common (here anyway) mindset that I should support Bodø/Glimt just because they're Norwegian, but that said I do love an underdog so I quite enjoyed yesterday's upset. (And also, how fucking hard can it be to locate a "ø" on an English keyboard?)

I once spent a week searching in vain for this tune in Paris record shops, only to come home and discover I already had it.

There’s an account on Instagram highlighting jazz kissas. Every time they post I feel like dimming the lights, pouring a scotch and putting on a Blue Note LP.

Never seen it, but I remember the poster vividly from when I was a kid. The title too; "Juggernaut" seemed such a cool word. I fear watching it will ruin those memories.

Articulates very well thoughts I’ve had for a while. Seeing Mo crying at the Kop end after scoring in the opening game it dawned on me this season won't be smooth sailing. Points well made about having to lower our expectations; to allow the players space to deal with the loss of a beloved friend.
