They bring out my cranky old man where I point at dollar bills and holler about how it says “legal tender for all debts public and private” and also the flag has a gold fringe which means maritime applies and also ….
THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE says US currency

Winter Olympics is coming up, so here’s my favorite bobsled fact: there’s only 17 courses in the world! It’s more like Mario Kart (just try to get real good at a fixed set of levels) than anyone wants to admit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...
There are a total of 17 bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton tracks around the world in use for competitions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bobsleigh,_luge,_and_skeleton_tracks

I've been using Cursor as my IDE for more than a year now - vim for short things on the command line, but when I’m doing something big enough to require an IDE, I use Cursor. Apparently this means I’m one of the top users? Anyway, this means I’ve got opinions. (🧵)
I’m a top 7% user of Cursor and pressed tab more than 4e5 times this year.

The entire stock market, with its options and futures and ETFs and everything else, is based on just mixing and matching the stocks ~4000 companies. That’s so few companies on which to base so much of the financial industry!
In 2019 there were only 4266 publicly traded firms in the United States.

Ammunition makers (Olin, Northrup Grumman, etc) hate the idea of rail guns because it means they sell pieces of metal and not complicated multi-piece stuff with chemicals in it. The Wikipedia article has all the weird language I associate with a heavy pr campaign. eg
Almost aggressively neutral language on the Wikipedia page for rail guns: Any trade-off analysis between electromagnetic (EM) propulsion systems and chemical propellants for weapons applications must also factor in its durability, availability and economics, as well as the novelty, bulkiness, high energy demand, and complexity of the pulsed power supplies that are needed for electromagnetic launcher systems.

Who was asking about this? Why did this text get put in the header? Smells like a PR campaign bumping up against Wikipedia’s NPOV
