Canadian Subject Headings
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) last week announced
the addition of a new Canadian Subject Heading (CSH) for
Lake Ontario to replace the Library of Congress’ updated
subject heading for the lake.
LAC will cease assigning the LCSH term and will instead
assign the CSH “Ontario, Lake (N.Y. and Ont.)” in
bibliographic and authority records moving forward.

OK, I think I've got this sketched out: I've got an incunabulum I want to OCR; Gemini does pretty well, my local qwen3-vl is significantly worse; so, I'll use Gemini output for a few pages to train the local model. A few pages should be enough, so I'll set up ground truth files and test it as I […]

Critical Infrastructure Studies and Digital Humanities | Debates in the Digital Humanities
This volume reimagines the digital humanities (DH) through the expanding field of critical infrastructure studies as it explores how DH builds on and extends the field’s theories and technologies. Including innovative “infrastructure manifests,” the essays in this book illuminate how DH can both study and shape the systems that sustain culture, scholarship, and connection.

why don't we have a word for the cluster of crescents you see on the ground when a partial solar eclipse is filtered through leaves? it takes me by surprise every time. (This time only vicariously, we're too close to the edge to get crescents)

I can’t lie. I’m hooked.

I just want to see just how well a joke candidate, with no real policies, a seemingly thin grip on reality, and who seems more concerned with being a talking point and making a farce of the democratic process than actually serving local residents, fares against Count Binface.
