In happier news I got a Fuji XF 16/1.4 in trade for my Hydrasynth desktop, and I got even more excited when I realized the field of view is basically the same as an iPhone camera, which is a field of view that I like many people am very accustomed to seeing in these days.

Took a Lumix S5 II in trade for the GFX 50S body I didn't need anymore now that I have the 50S II. I'll probably sell it on, but wanted to try it out. But I found myself curious how much the L-mount Leica lenses go for and... ahh. Right, then.

Decided I should have a backpack that doesn’t scream “I am full of expensive camera gear” for schlepping around NYC. This little 21L Tarion swallowed my 50S II, both the lenses I have, my flash, spare batteries and charger, my Cotton G3 vest, and my laptop and still has a whole compartment left.
A green backpack with a sleek design, featuring multiple zippered compartments and an adjustable bungee cord on the front. It rests on a wooden floor near a shelf filled with board games.A camera bag is partially open, revealing organized compartments containing a camera lens, a small white light, batteries, and lens caps, all arranged neatly with padding for protection. The interior is lined with a soft, light-colored material.

Adapting this Mamiya Press 90/3.5 is going to be a bit more of a challenge, though (or at least much more expensive).

I’d been reading about adapting the Helios 44-2/44-M 58mm lens to GFX and was pondering buying one, then I realized - I have a Helios 44-2 already! So now I have a very inexpensive M42 to GFX adapter on the way.
An analog camera, specifically a Zenit-E model, is positioned on a person's lap. It features a Helios 44-2 lens and has a leather strap. The background shows a textured surface and part of a leg.

The rule of thirds is a good general guideline but also it robs us of so many interesting photographic uses of symmetry.
A tall, weathered tree trunk stands on a sandy beach near a lake. In the background, people are swimming and enjoying the water, while a person in light clothing stands nearby, taking in the scenery. Mountains are visible in the distance.

Image stabilization is a god damned miracle. This is a 1/8th or so crop of a picture I took with a stabilized lens (GF 100-200) on a stabilized medium format body (GFX 50S II) at 200mm, and it's a 1/10s exposure. And it's not so sharp you could cut yourself on it, but it's pretty usable.

Grabbed this one on the street in Alert Bay after failing to run back to my room and grab my camera quickly enough to get a good sunset shot. I don't love that bit of flare off the nearest light, but my attempts to clean it up in C1 made it look worse.

I usually just take snapshots with my phone and leave the artistic photography to those times when I have a proper camera, but I do kinda like this crowd shot I took at the night market last weekend.
A bustling night market scene filled with diverse crowds walking among colorful food stalls and vibrant lights. Banners and signs promote various food options, creating a lively atmosphere.

These digester tanks in Bellingham were super cool! It was a bit hard to get a good angle on them, though, without getting distracting bits of modern... stuff in the way. I'm gonna go back when I get my 100-200 and see if I can do more of a compressed longer-distance shot.

Picked up a new travel lens to replace my Fuji 18-135, which I never felt had enough reach to be a real all-in-one. Got that lizard pic from yesterday about an hour after I bought it. It has compromises because superzooms always do, but for the reach they seem worthwhile. Stabilized and sealed, too.

Managed to snag this used. It’s pretty much THE macro lens for Fuji X, the Laowa 65/2.8 macro. It’ll do 2:1, but is MF and has no electronic connections so the handling takes some work. Hopefully have some stuff to show soon! I actually take a lot of pictures, I just hate working on them…

Also speaking of photography, Fujifilm lent me a good used car's worth of gear for a few days: a medium format GFX100S II and the 20-35, 35-70, and 500 GF lenses. I sort of wish I'd gone for the 100-200 instead of one of the 20-35 or 500, but the whole thing is really cool and pretty handholdable.
