@mike Josiah Warren is the guy. I don't know much about him though. If you're interested in the book he has made a free download (PDF) available. But the hardback is beautiful

I think this is my favourite hand tool (vintage Stanley combination plane for making grooves). When it's properly (razor!) sharp, it does this job with minimal effort, and the sound it makes is gorgeous 😁. Bought second hand from EBay like most of my best quality tools.

Paul Sellers is (genuinely) my absolute hero. I have learned hand-tool woodworking from him by following his fantastic, generous lessons on youtube for years. Very sad to see him introducing AI to the craft of woodworking 🥲 woodybot.ai/#showcase

I haven't seen "guru meditation" in an error message since the days of the Amiga computer! This is from a website in Nepal - seems unlikely they are running it on an Amiga 500 :-)

@hvdsomp I only recently discovered that you can use variables in line labels, so I can get automated dimension lines like this for doing woodwork designs: The dimensions automatically reflect the scale and units you choose for the document, and the values […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

I wanted to suggest to the Research Data Alliance (RDA) that they consider supporting this new information syndication technology called RSS on their website… They have this weird “feedback" widget that seems to require me to provide my feedback as a video […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

Reading about the “Hands off” protests. Nobody seems to be very clear what it is they are protesting. I know it is early days, but the “opposition” in America is going to need to get a lot more focussed and effective…

My company - Antleaf - became a Samvera Partner this year. I’m very pleased to be able to work more closely with that community - there is a ton of good and innovative development going on there. Here is a summary of Samvera in 2024.
