That makes a lot of sense. It gives existing readers more lore while also giving new readers an easy way to discover the series. I like that approach. Was it mainly written for longtime readers, or as an introduction for new ones?

Oh, nice! So this one is already published and serves as a prelude to the main series? That’s actually a really interesting way to introduce readers to the world. And two books already published in the main series are impressive. What made you decide to write the prelude novella?

38 degrees and editing? That's commitment! Best of luck with Chapter 6. If you're looking for beta readers later in the process, I'd be happy to help.

I agree. While structural and character-level feedback often gets the most attention, the smaller details matter too. Language choices, phrasing, and framing can all influence how readers connect with a story, which is why sensitivity reads can be such an important part of the feedback process.

As a beta reader, I think knowledge of writing helps turn reactions into actionable feedback. It's one thing to say a scene feels off, and another to explain what might be causing that feeling.

paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Haha, fair enough! 😄 Though that does sound like a sign you might eventually need a website, especially if readers want an easy place to find your books, updates, and future projects.

Congratulations! Finishing the whole script is a huge milestone, especially after getting stuck before. When you start looking for beta readers again, what kind of feedback will you be hoping they focus on most?
000
paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 23/06/2026
That makes sense. A shorter project probably feels lower risk, especially when the goal is to get something new out there for readers. How long is the novel you're planning to release?
110
paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 23/06/2026
That makes sense. At that stage, a proofreader can be more valuable than beta readers anyway, since the story decisions are already locked in. Are you planning to run it through a final proof pass yourself first, or send it straight to a proofreader as-is?
110
paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 23/06/2026
That’s a healthy place to land, honestly. At some point you do have to stop trying to design the book for every possible reader and trust your own vision. Do you still share drafts with anyone at all before publication, or is it mostly a final-polish-and-release process now?

That sounds like a solid plan, especially tightening things up before beta readers see it. What made you decide the event works better as a science-fair style setup instead of the Grand Ball?
000
paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

000
paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
That’s a really practical point. Getting that feedback early can save a lot of rework later, especially if it leads to structural or character changes. Have you found certain parts of a manuscript tend to benefit most from sensitivity reads?

No need to apologize. Family comes first, and it sounds like you've been busy getting *The Peacemaker's Time* ready for release. How has the feedback from your beta readers been so far?

paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
These both sound really intriguing! I noticed you're using a Carrd page for your book links. Have you thought about having a full author website to showcase your books and connect with readers?

That’s one of the best parts of editing, those small tweaks that end up making a big difference overall. By the way, are you currently working with an editor, or still looking for one?

paulvic396.bsky.social @paulvic396.bsky.social · 19/06/2026
That's one of my favorite parts of the process too. Sometimes a small tweak ends up adding so much depth to the story. Are these new additions mostly character-focused, or are they expanding the plot as well?
