One of the best things I have seen, an Oyster vending machine - south of La Rochelle, France. If you like (or love) oysters, you can walk from Châtelaillon-Plage to Fouras, starting and ending your walk at small oyster shacks on the beach - or if you need a middle of the night fix....

Hiking in Spain, near the French border near Irun on the GR121. I ended up making the mistake of thinking I'll just hike down a ways, then go up and over to the train back to Irun. Well, that ended up being a 30 km hike with 1000m elevation gain. Fun, but OH boy.

I've been inspired by Alastair Humphrey's (bsky.app/profile/alas...) book Local to do more "local" #hiking. Today, I turned right on a little short path, 1/4 mile, that I have biked and walked by countless times. Boy, am I glad I took that turn, I never knew that pond was that big.

#hiking today through some clear cut forest got me thinking about the future. I feel like there are two visions for our forests, the republican one of use all the trees vs. the democrats conserve the trees. I’m with the democrats on this one.
