Once, a very long time ago; before the invention and subsequent explosive popularity of the internet; a 6 year old me sat in front of the TV in our mobile home; and played Super Mario Bros for the first time. 40 years later, I sit in front of of a different TV in our house; and play on our XBox.

Having friends and acquaintances in multiple communities like I do made discussing last night's post extremely thoughtful and poignant. It also brought to mind several processes I have when engaging with the FGC, such as "I need to be good at game to be a active contributor", amongst others.

Let's talk about ... being washed. No, I'm not talking about bathing or rinsing (although you should practice decent hygiene no matter what), but being washed in the context of competitive gaming. Provided that context, being washed means you're no longer any good at games, within a genre.

Packing and moving has begun. Hard to believe that the 31st is our last day in this apartment (with the big things being moved on the 27th). Next step is to book the movers (which will be done towards the end of next week), then do all of the exterior stuff, clean carpets, and replace the lock.

Today, I introduced the idea of sibling rivalry to my two oldest grandchildren, within the context of one getting on the other's nerves. The two year old granddaughter ran around our apartment, screaming at the top of her lungs.

My wife's been in the hospital the past two days for a GI obstruction, and we're normally in the other tower here at the hospital. This time we're in the main tower, and it's almost peaceful despite everything going on. No lab techs arguing about needle and IV placement.

So, one of the "perks" of being neurodivergent is that I can go into bouts of mania. It's not uncommon for people on the spectrum to experience this, but how it's experienced is key. Just so happens my bouts of mania coincide with significant retail therapy, where I can spend without blinking a eye.

so for the past couple of months, I've been knee-deep in the youtube community surrounding watches, specifically Swiss luxury (Rolex and other brands). I asked my loving wife if I could save for one of these types of watches. She initially said no, but we agreed to a financial compromise.

Had to travel for Q1 doctor's appointments today. The last time I visited my hometown (where my doctor conveniently is) was in early November last year for a 5K walk. One of the noteworthy TexMex places had closed their doors about 3 months before that, and a Braums sprung up in it's ruins!

I did get Borderlands 4, against my better judgment. Initial testing on my gaming PC had some dips below 60fps with FSR on, frame gen off. I’m gonna do some further testing during the day tomorrow and some this weekend concerning UE5 limitations on PC. Specs will be in the next skeet.

It took 3+ months, but I finally have all the gameplay stuff for Mario Kart World unlocked! I will eventually go back for the remaining costumes and all that, but it's finally time for it to be uninstalled off the Switch 2. Gonna start Kirby and the Forgotten Land next, then play the DLC.

Seeing Kerrville underwater is absolutely terrifying, and I'm hopeful about those missing being found. About 15 years ago (give or take a couple of years), my wife and I went to a state convention at a local university there for our national honor society. We thought it was a quaint little town.
