About 30 years ago at an early Assessment in Higher Education (AHE) conference in Northumbria I was playing the piano after dinner. Sally Brown asked if I could play Autumn Leaves. A3 That still has the problem of assessment perceived (and practised) as a ‘bolt-on’ at the end of the block. Block teaching is a good candidate for assessment as an ongoing, dialogic process so, by the end, the students actually know how they’ve done. #Lthechat

A question for the higher education hive mind…. In your HE system, what percentage of graduates end up working in a field NOT related to their discipline? In the UK the old figure I have c.1998 was 48%. I suspect it hasn’t changed much. #highereducation.
