‪Well now #ClubKid was really good. Jordan Firstman takes a conceit that could be a broad comedy but instead digs into the psych of a second chance. Reggie Absolom is really great. Touching and funny.‬

#FrankandPercy benefits from the easy chemistry of Ian McKellen and Roger Allam even though it sometimes feels like scenes are missing. I was charmed by it, and laughed consistently. A lovely little film.

#PrimaFacie takes a thorny issue and makes it an engrossing drama that draws you in. Cynthia Erivo nails it in her strongest role to date, with a great sound scape and a thought provoking ending make this superb.

‪#Artificial didn’t do much for me. I think I’m just not interested in these sorts of films. It’s well made for sure, and the acting is good but I was left cold by its presentation of things. Maybe it’s too disturbing to see.‬

#PaperTiger is a throwback film but can’t decide if it’s a family drama or a Scorsese movie so it’s both and neither. Though Adam Driver is very watchable.

#WildHorseNine is another hilarious escapade with acerbic wit. Malkovich owns the film but Rockwell offers great support. Lacks the dark melancholy of his best work but it’s full of classic exchanges and terrific scenery.

The Social Reckoning (Film Review) - Too Late and Too Soon
Aaron Sorkin steps in director-writer mode once more to deliver a look at the revelations about Facebook but is it really a reckoning or just a recap?

Paul Klein 👾 @paulkleinyo.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
There’s an irony in #TheSocialReckoning being guilty of the very thing it’s criticising. Surely misses the Fincher magic and some of the acting is poor. All in all a shrug of a film. Like… ok.

Verity (Film Review) - Hathaway is Deliciously Devious
Anne Hathaway is the sultry heart of this would-be erotic thriller but does it satisfy an itch?

#Josephine is anchored by three very strong performances and a screenplay that doesn’t shy away from the difficult nature of its subject. I was utterly engrossed, and by the end deeply moved by its (perpetually) timely themes

Paul Klein 👾 @paulkleinyo.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
#Verity offers a deliciously wicked Anne Hathaway in a film that doesn’t always seem confident enough to live up to its promise. The score is suitably dark but undercut by bland pop needle drops. Its flaws are somewhat redeemed by a really clever final scene.

Digger (Film Review) – Fascinating That It Even Exists
Tom Cruise is Digger but does this amount to a smash hit or a misfire from our President of Movies?
000
Paul Klein 👾 @paulkleinyo.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
#Digger has big ideas, very big, very very big. So big it needs the scream in your face. Cruise is good, and reminds us he’s a great actor when he wants to be, but Inarritu has all the subtlety of a large shovel. Surprising but in a bad way,

#TheDeathofRobinHood is a slow march to death but it’s a beautiful film punctuated by an incredibly moving sequence, anchored by a fully committed performance by Hugh Jackman. I was entranced by it even when I felt it was a little too sombre. Brutal but beautiful

#TheDogStars is cliched. But I like those cliches. Good performances, terrific cinematography and a haunting score make this a real treat. It plays like an episode of the walking dead that didn’t get lost in spinning its wheels. I really dig it.

#TheEndofOakStreet is a little tonally confused and feels compromised. But I really liked the four central performances, and one really excellent emotional beat. The tone is all over the place though.

#TheOdyssey is epic in all meanings. Nolan creates a cinematic spectacle but it feels like a husband telling his wife he loves her. The horror elements work really well, the score is amazing and the acting is ace. Not sure if the war trauma elements truly mesh with the fantasy.

The Latest entry in the Evil Dead saga comes from Infested director Sebastian Vaniček but is it groovy?
000
Paul Klein 👾 @paulkleinyo.bsky.social · 07/07/2026
#EvilDeadBurn is a gory treat for fans of the series. Im not sure I liked the lore expansion but the sheer brute force works very well. There’s one visual gag that made me laugh out loud, and the themes of recovering from abuse are interesting and well observed.

#ToyStory5 is a big step up from 4 feeling like a cohesive movie. It’s still not on par with the first three films but the conversation about tech feels timely and LilyPad is a great new character. Could have done with more of the original gang.

James Gunn and his crew seem to have enough faith in Milly Alcock following her debut in Superman, to give her her own film.

#TheSheepDetectives takes a silly premise and uses it as a springboard to talk about reckoning with death. As heavy as that sounds, it’s a funny film that offers a gateway to dealing with darker ideas. I was utterly charmed by this film.
