A magpie flying low across RSPB Frampton Marsh. I’ve seen hundreds of magpies over the years, but I’d never properly noticed the beautiful blue sheen on their wings until I started photographing them. Sometimes photography makes you look a little more closely. Happy Sunday everyone :)

Shapes, colours and layers at RSPB Frampton Marsh, Lincolnshire, UK. The purple-red covering is Marsh Samphire, which starts life bright green before changing colour as the season progresses. Looking forward to going back in November, when apparently the marsh is flooded with bird life.

Another bird from RSPB Frampton Marsh. I think this might be a Reed Bunting, but given my recent record of bird identification, I’m not prepared to put any money on it. 😂 Despite their name, Reed Buntings aren’t restricted to reedbeds and can be found around wetlands, marshes and rough grassland.

A Yellow Wagtail, photographed yesterday on our first visit to RSPB Frampton Marsh. These lovely little birds are summer visitors to the UK and will soon be heading south, migrating to Africa for the winter, so these ones at Frampton are currently busy feeding up before their long journey.

Another of Galloway’s wild goats. This one was a shy but inquisitive little kid. It was following the adults through the long grass, stumbling and doing its best to keep up :) They’re British Primitive goats. Several hundred live wild in the surrounding Galloway hills in Scotland. #goats
