Above all, Mom was a woman of faith. She loved God and lived the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. She didn't just speak about faith. She lived it. “Can't” was never in her vocabulary. 3/6

She came to the UK in the 1960s and, through courage, hard work and determination, built a life and a family she was so proud of. She never complained. She simply kept going. She had seven children, five girls and two boys, and loved us all fiercely. Family was everything to her. 2/6

Today, I say goodbye to my mommy, my Queen. On 10 September 2026, my family lost my beautiful mother, Mrs Mary Ann Wilson, to pancreatic cancer. It was a short illness, but the pain of losing her will stay with us forever. Mum was part of the Windrush generation. 1/6

Yesterday, I met with Council officers to raise concerns raised by constituents about the new Waste Improvement Scheme. We discussed the number of bins for residents with disabilities, the risk of rats and vermin, missed collections and the lack of a green waste collection.

Supported exempt accommodation (SEA) is a growing concern in our community. Some landlords are choosing SEA providers over the HMO route, leaving residents with little say. Last month, I wrote to the Housing Minister calling for tougher action and local accountability.
