I recently drove Route 66 and found that MAGA had (sometimes literally) set up camp alongside it. For Rolling Stone, I talked about the warped lens of American nostalgia can be used as an on-ramp for nationalist and authoritarian movements like Trump's. Also I saw a giant cowboy.
