There was an episode of Re:zero that kinda pissed me off so here's my rant about it. Spoilers for the 4th season. And also spoilers for the Monogatari series. youtu.be/zn6VjUEP1G0

I usually watch #JujutsuKaisen for the amazing animation. But season 3 was the first time I got really into watching the dialogue. The directing in S3's exposition scenes were more engaging than I thought possible for JJK! youtu.be/aKbisR8_zHA #JJK

I did a deep dive into the importance of intertextuality in #BotanKamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk. If you're willing to do some research, this is one of the most rewarding shows I've ever seen. I simply can't get enough of it. youtu.be/EhXrkDz4x-s #上伊那ぼたん

Today I explain art (I don't know any art history). Here's how paintings like that of Mark Rothko played an important role in this scene of #KamiinaBotan. paukshop.wordpress.com/2026/07/05/b... #上伊那ぼたん

I know I made a video about the 180 degree rule only a month or two ago, but I need to talk about another instance of Botan Kamiina doing the same to increase the tension and awkwardness in a scene. paukshop.wordpress.com/2026/07/01/b... #KamiinaBotan #上伊那ぼたん

I took a break for the 7th episode, but I'm back alongside Cheezemansam to discuss the clever use of vocal tracks for the soundtrack in the 8th episode of Botan Kamiina! Side note is I'm now addicted to yonige! paukshop.wordpress.com/2026/06/28/b... #KamiinaBotan #上伊那ぼたん

I love when a show repeats a composition throughout its entire length. The 5th episode of Botan Kamiina uses a split screen layout to demonstrate that barrier between Ibuki and others. Check out my essay on the subject! paukshop.wordpress.com/2026/06/14/b... #KamiinaBotan #上伊那ぼたん

Seeing some of the criticism for the 3rd ep of Botan Kamiina, I felt I needed to write about why I thought the animation style change was incredibly appropriate for this scene. Like Akane, I also do love "analog." paukshop.wordpress.com/2026/06/07/b... #KamiinaBotan #上伊那ぼたん

This episode of Botan was maybe episode of the year. One detail I wanted to share is about flower language. Hydrangeas can be associated with distance and heartfulness (bad). So Gujo alone while Botan/Ibuki get closer highlights her inability to get close with Ibuki.

Small detail I really liked about this week's ep of Journal with Witch is how even seating can depict the nature of an interaction. The first scene, where they're across from each other is adversarial, whereas the latter where Makio is closer feels more advisory. #ikoku_anime
