The perfect theme for this weekend - #Handsoff the arts! Hands off the KC! This institution belongs to the nation and this city. No matter your power or money, the arts are the great equalizer. Join our fight for the version of the KC we love: patronsforthekc.org

As we prepare for the struggles ahead—in defense of art, culture, and our nation—remember this: “We, too, will be remembered not for victories and defeats in battle or in politics, but for our contribution to the human spirit.” These words used to welcome us - now they call us to action!

Last week the Kennedy Center lost so many brilliant people, especially in Social Impact. People like Marc Bamuthi Joseph and his colleagues cared about the DC community and the KC's role in expanding arts access across the nation. We will be sad today, but we will fight for our KC tomorrow.

The takeover of the Kennedy Center goes against the very spirit of what art is about: it is for everyone! We are artists, patrons and supporters of the KC, and we're not giving it up without a fight!
