Mount St. Helens from the Willamette river in Portland. The view is through an old industrial area covered in graffiti. A bridge pylon is in the foreground.

I don’t know what they are but I want these kitchen accessories
Fuzzy AI slop still image from the posted ad . This is a zoom in of the kitchen counter. There are two mysterious objects next to the wall. One is stainless and looks a little bit like the base of a stand mixer with a pot mounted on it. It has a lid and no electrical cable. The item next to it looks sort of like an amphora? Maybe it has olive oil in it.

On my way back from the front lines, I found a discarded biological weapon. Anyone who thinks this war will stay contained to Portland is fooling themselves.

I spotted a pair of F-15 Eagles flying overhead. They were likely targeting the many antifa supersoldier barracks scattered throughout the city.

Dispatches from war-ravaged Portland. First, a pigeon. There are lots of them here but I suspect this one works for antifa.

It appears State has the best and brightest, I’m sure everything will be fine
From the posted Newsweek article: U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce: "It is a dynamic, as it would be with any diplomatic consideration, that negotiations are meant to move things forward and the good news is, is that, in fact, it would appear that things are moving forward, and that's what we all want."

Is this a dark-eyed junco nest? At first glance, I thought these little ones were dead, but at least one of them was moving. I didn’t see the parents around. #birding #birds #nest #birdidentification

Common birds are awesome! Here are just a few I saw the other day with my son. There was a bald eagle just kinda hanging out but I was more excited about the swallows. They are everywhere but we don’t usually get to see them up close!
Red-winged blackbirds are everywhere, but they have one of the most iconic calls to go with the bold look. This one was yelling at us!Tree sparrows are incredibly common, but just look at this handsome fella! Plus I love how they kind of fly like bats when hunting insects. Such cool birds!A pair of mourning doves in a tree. You can see them pretty much anywhere, but aren’t they pretty? And the noises they make when they fly away! One of my all-time favorites.A house finch in a tree. I love these guys. They are native where we live and are pretty much everywhere. My favorite finch experience was getting to watch a pair build a nest from scratch.

The fledglings are so adorbs. My last apartment complex was a nesting paradise, apparently. We were always seeing them hopping around. A pair of finches set up in our patio just as we were moving out. The juncos were everywhere.

Ducklings
A mother mallard with three ducklings. Two of the ducklings are a little to the left, a third is partially visible under the mother. They have the typical black/brown/yellow coloring. The mother is facing away from the camera but reaching her head around towards the ducklings. This is on the bank of a creek, though the water isn’t visible. The ground is mostly leaf litter with a few green sprouts.A bright yellow mallard duckling. Part of the same group but off by itselfThe ducklings are now all huddled under the mother (facing away), including the bright yellow one. Only the yellow duckling is peaking its head out.

A meme with a wistful-looking raccoon looking out of a car window. The text says “I wonder what’s happening in the Berenstein bears universe.” This is a reference to people in a certain age cohort misremembering the spelling of the Berenstain Bears, a popular book series for children (see Mandela effect). A tongue-in-cheek theory is that there are split “Bears” timelines. The Berenstein universe is normal: Hillary Clinton won in 2016, the worst of the pandemic was avoided, and progress continued apace. Not so for the Berenstain timeline. We get to witness the rise of the dumbest and least believable dystopia you could dream up for a third rate sci-fi novel. As a bonus, we get to be bombarded by a never-ending stream of darkly absurdist headlines.

Took math classes in the blender (Physical Science Center) at OU. I hated that there was no natural lighting in those classrooms. Just soul crushing. Campus legend was that it was designed to be riot-proof but more likely this was just a cost-cutting measure. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co...
A picture of the Physical Science Center at the University of Oklahoma. Somewhat reminiscent of a giant concrete blender as the more narrow tower sits atop the sprawling and windowless bottom 4 floors. An Oklahoman article from 1984 suggests that that the architects assumed windows weren’t needed for classrooms in the age of air conditioning. This result was a psychologically oppressive experience for students reminiscent of a prison, or a tomb.
