I’ve had a thought for a few years now that the old corridor should be reused by an extension of the Flinders line via a tunnel under the range and popping back above ground at O’Halloran’s Hill, but cost is probably a dealbreaker

They are useful as an indicator of how big a hill he’ll have to climb in the runoff

Callais supercharging minority turnout is an underdiscussed aspect of the upcoming elections

Maybe the age of social splintering? The monoculture died a long a panful death driven by technological change and ideological malaise, with the last vestiges imploded by the pandemic

Aggressively pass measures to try and assert congressional authority to end the war, and when Trump and the Supreme Court ignore them message relentlessly about it being his war signed off by an out of control Supreme Court which needs reforming. Then prep for 2028

My first assumption is that it’s an Indian diaspora situation, but you never know

Potentially, I just think promoting development near the existing corridors and using trams to cover the city centre is probably the best long term. My controversial opinion is that the Johnsonville line should be converted for tram operations

Absolutely agree with the Lincoln branch, I think a new line to Waikuku Beach would complement it too and allow for more sustainable suburban development. I’ve always been a bit sceptical of the tram-train model though, I prefer segregated modes and encouraging development near existing corridors

I think a light rail in Christchurch from the Airport to New Brighton via the uni and train station is another no-brainer route, alongside your other commonsense proposals

Wichita has a lot of plane manufacturing, but you point broadly stands

Patrick🇺🇦🇦🇲 @patricktheqlder.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
The main reason is that the lines don’t have anywhere to go in the suburban network, and trying to electrify the inner VLine network would be expensive, so successive governments have balked at it

This would preclude a completed southern circle line no? I think cut and cover heavy rail in Freo proper then elevated to Bibra Lakes would be better for wider network connectivity, though a Fremantle based light rail network would be awesome

I’m worried there’s gonna be another polling error missing older moderates, but Massachusetts shouldn’t have as many of them as there are in Michigan

I think it’s a combo of the Craigieburn line being very congested, there being a big valley in the way, and having the right of way from Sunshine be relatively unobstructed. The price tag is insane though

One of the most connected suburbs in the city getting some relatively modest housing? This will destroy the city as we know it

I’d reckon it would have the opposite effect if I’m honest, less frequent primary voters probably won’t have as many qualms about knifing an incumbent

Not quite, I would say that by dragging down and belittling anyone with aspirations of talent, expertise or craft, they get to feel accomplished and powerful, and by dominating them prove their lack of worth in the first place.

With the admission that I’m not local and have only had a look a google maps, it looks like you were on the south side next to the line between Rocky and Yeppoon. Some of the warehouses in the background are still standing and are at the right angle to match

They actually do have an oceanic port at Lewiston, but fair point. Railways should ideally be the stopgap for transcontinental freight

This confirms my suspicions that the highest priority light rail routes should be to Scarborough, Claremont, Cannington and Morley, and that a metro from Fremantle to Midland is more viable than you might think

DSA is powered by downwardly-mobile highly-educated white collar workers. A slump in the tech sector jobs market generates a large number of these individuals

Also of note is how even her vote was across the state. This isn’t inner city liberal elites, this is the whole Democratic base in revolt

I think that sort of split would just be a prelude to a Republican autocratic war of aggression against pluralistic democracy

I think having a three-cornered contest in 2028 will be fascinating. Labor will be trying to tar the Libs with the dysfunction and rank racism of ON, Pauline will be trying to play up her salt of the earth schtick and the Libs will try and present a reasonable alternative to both ON and Labor
000
Patrick🇺🇦🇦🇲 @patricktheqlder.bsky.social · 28/06/2026
I think what it says to me is that Pauline will have a very hard job pulling off a successful election campaign, the press will smell blood in the water as soon as Barnaby says something ridiculous and she either backs him up or tries to backflip on it

If we get to a D+16 generic ballot, that means the Midwest will be swinging a hell of a lot more than the South. I’d be keeping an eye on Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska in that case

There have been some grade separations of existing lines in LA, plus the extension of the KC streetcar went from mixed traffic to a dedicated right of way, but there are slim pickings overall
