Die Zwischenwahlen in den USA gelten als erste grosse Bewährungsprobe für Präsident Donald Trump seit seiner Rückkehr ins Weisse Haus. Aus diesem Anlass reisen die «Club»-Moderatoren Barbara Lüthi und Peter Düggeli erneut gemeinsam in die USA und beleuchten politische, gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Entwicklungen vor Ort.

For this occasion, "Club" hosts Barbara Lüthi and Peter Düggeli are traveling to the United States once again to examine political, social, and economic developments on the ground.

The focus will be on the intersection of religion and politics, the economic winners and losers of Trump’s policies, and the question of whether the President will be able to consolidate his power or find himself under political pressure.

Schon ein paar Schritte weiter auf diesem Irrweg ist das Verlagshaus Tamedia. Mit dem «Tages-Anzeiger», einst linksliberale Leitstimme im Schweizer Blätterwald, ist es ein Labor der Selbstverstümmelung geworden. Jahr für Jahr wird die digitale Transformation «beschleunigt». Reorganisation folgt auf Reorganisation, Abbau auf Abbau. Gebracht hat all das dem Unternehmen nichts. Die Realität heute ist, dass Tamedia im Printbereich schrumpft und das bei den Digitalabos nicht kompensieren kann.

Die Schuld dafür gibt das Management den Journalist:innen, deren Arbeit mit immer perfideren Methoden gemessen wird. Neuster Streich: Sternchen für die Onlineperformance der Texte. Drei sind gut, einer führt bald zum Gespräch mit den Vorgesetzten. Wer sowieso Angst um den Job hat, wird dann kaum mehr sperrige, aber politisch relevante Themen aufgreifen. Sondern über Promis und Fitnesstrends schreiben.
