Decoding the Lombard Code in Italy. Back from another week of cycling in, around and between the Uneaco Heritage sites of the Lombards in Italy. More specifically this time in former Duchy of Spoleto. You don’t imagine how large a footprint they left in Italy, as long as you can’t find their code.

The Forschungsgruppe Wahlen from ZDF survey asked people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania about the statement: ‘In my life, I have less than I am fairly entitled to.’ Guess which party has the most yes?

Chiedo troppo?

We beat our record: cycling for 2,5 hrs with ecountering even one car on a provincial road. That's it, Italy doesn't need cycleways; if go in the right season (spring or autumn) you've got it for yourself. www.komoot.com/it-it/collec...

I’m sick of reading all these statements about Alex Pretti by Americans. Stop writing and sitting around, go and do something.

Last year, I was captivated by the wild beauty of the Friulian Dolomites while ski touring. I vowed to return with my bike. This time, my wife, daughter, and I, all avid gravel cyclists, journeyed from Dobbiaco to the sea via scenic routes like Vajont. It was an amazing experience!

I don’t like the ready-made mush in bikepacking. I couldn’t care less about all those cycling paths, green ways and cycling routes. I have an idea and then I realize it. Like this week. So fantastic riding through the wild Friuli Dolomites and the until the sea. With my two beauties.

We had been eyeing this mysterious valley on the map for quite some time. Nestled in central Italy's Marche Region, it stretches from the renowned Renaissance town of Urbino down to the majestic Sibillini Mountains. We weren't even sure if it had a name, but our curiosity led us to explore it.

Last time in the US the institutions failed and the opposition could not get through it’s concerns via the democratic way, the only way possible was (civil) war and the bloodiest war ever fought in the americas. The US is not that far away from such a situation right now.

Hey you, over there, who voted for him, you middle class worker. You are going to pay the increased prices caused by the tariffs. And guess who will profit from the tax cuts. Not you. That money, obviously, lands in pockets of those who already have a lot of it.

IDK, but maybe we should reconsider our definition of state/country. Perhaps it's gonna be less about territory, less about EU, Canada, US. The communities of the future will join along ideology, mentality, attitude.

The US seeks territorial concessions from Ukraine because itself wants new territories. That’s really a dirty game, guys!

A conclusion (of the many) is: a good campaigner is a bad governor. And thus, something is wrong with our electoral campaigning system.

I‘m not quite sure a government by the Syrian Rebels would be a lot better than the actual. Is a Syria under Sharia law a good idea?

Saturday evening I held a speach about “When the mountain says NO”. I didn’t talk about my (modest) achievements as an alpinist. I talked about my failures, my emotions, decision making, risk management the many lessons learned - for the mountains, and for life.

I don’t think the market is basically ethical. If we study evolutionary history and the history of mankind (many species and cultures disappeared) how can we rely only on market mechanisms to solve all our problems? What should be under public control and what not?

Difficult, very difficult - the interview with Peter Thiel at Honestly. He may be right that the democrats (and the left in Europe) are wrong on many issues. I could feel this sense of hollowness as well in our elections. Many points to reflect on there. But then he is very biased in his views.

There’s a huge political challenge ahead of us in the so-called western democracies. We have to interweave the big and objective problems of the world like climate change, biodiversity decline, sustainable energy production etc. into the lives of simple people.
