Please journalists for the love of god ask republicans if they are okay with this and if they aren’t, will they impeach him? President uses taxpayer dollars to glaze himself? I doubt most people will agree with this

The thing I noticed is how pleasant and quiet it was. Walking became a pleasant stroll, not a hurried scuffle along the edge of a street on a 4 ft wide sidewalk.

Is it just vehicle access or specifically punishing bike use? There is this spot near where I live that restricts cars, allows pedestrians, but there is a pedestrian curb ramp to enter onto Polk going west and one of the curbs of the ramp is raised, making it really difficult to bike through.

What? Wars throughout history never spin out of control and expand beyond its original scope far beyond what was originally hoped by military hawks! Never!

Bike the Drive was beautiful! I hope when this is redesigned they include lanes and space for more than just cars: buses, bikes and expand the LFT.

The corridor on the west side between the blue line and green lines is ripe for Toronto-style dense clustering. Do you also have maps for FAR designation?

Just a regular Thursday in Chicago

It’s certainly a trade off; however I ride the 157 in Chicago and I kid you not these two are bus stops for that line, east bound. In Chicago especially a little consolidation might be in order.

I genuinely don’t get this fear: Dems have run a moderate 3 times against DJT and lost twice. Dems ran a progressive in 2008 and won. This assertion is far from having data to back it up.

Genuinely why even be a journalist if you’re only ever going to regurgitate what other people say. It clearly IS a giveaway to the Trump family. Literally and functionally it’s transferring wealth from taxpayers to the Trump family. Even the immunity is a privilege no other person has.
Text from a NYT article from July 29th 2026 that says “Mr. Cornyn and Mr. Tillis object to a deal negotiated by Mr. Blanche and Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers to resolve a lawsuit the president had filed against the I.R.S. The deal gave Mr. Trump, his family and his businesses broad immunity against I.R.S. audits, potentially saving them at least $100 million in penalties. Democrats and even some Republican lawmakers criticized the deal as a giveaway to the Trump family.”

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a good lake to south loop connection in the circled area? My best is to find a way to 11th st. and then cross Michigan to get to the bridge over the Metra lines and under DLSD, but it’s not bike friendly. I have to get there via either Harrison or Roosevelt.

Gerri may have been wrong, it seems this current government literally is a pez dispenser: give Trump a golden trinket or a movie about his wife or some bribe via his crypto and you get whatever you want!

These neighborhoods are a mess of cars and it’s so frustrating that a bunch of rich yuppies moved in, converted 2 and 3 flats to SFHs, and still drive everywhere despite it being one of the best neighborhoods for transit and biking.

The timeline of Tesla stock and its fundamentals make it pretty obvious to me it’s mostly a meme stock that hasn’t yet burst. It’s been insane seeing “serious” people talk about it like it’s anything else.
Stock price timeline of Tesla stock from 2016 to present showing that the massive spike in the stock price from about $30 pre-pandemic to the unjustified price among $300 and $400 occurs almost exactly when the COVID pandemic hit the United States (spring 2020).

I’ve already seen accounts calling to withhold their vote against Democratic Party unless the entire party vows to abolish 🧊, which is an unreasonable threshold. Below is just a very recent one I’ve seen. It’s self-defeating, and possibly outside influence. There are saboteurs in our midst.

Yeah whatever happens, this can’t continue to be the nearest entrance to a Metra station for the city’s largest mega development.
Google street view on W Homer street and Elston in Chicago IL looking West just past Ashland with a grey parking lot in the foreground and the rear of the Clyborn station and the Metra viaduct over Ashland. A lone narrow winding stairway leads from a narrow sidewalk on Ashland up to the the station. The whole scene looks very uninviting and dreary.

Are they just unaware of modality filters in a grid. It’s actually super simple, has the exact same effect to slow down traffic, but maintains a pedestrian friendly grid. This isn’t rocket science. I’m tired of incompetent people in charge of urban planning.

I have a whole album called “trees I like” but this one is in Ravenswood Manor and I used to walk by it all the time when I lived in Albany Park. It has a whimsical posture where it almost looks like it’s mid dance. I don’t know if it’s my favorite but it’s the first that came to me.

This is the vision that suburban mayors and Chicago alders in far flung neighborhoods should have for the rail corridors. I know Toronto isn’t perfect, but every Metra and CTA outskirts station should have a cluster of high rises.
