Seems closely related to the final scenes of "The English" where Emily Blunt plays a woman who uses both gun and veil with solid reasons...

Wife and I just finished this #recipeoftheday relishing a total cheat. Cook some rhubarb in just a small quantity of sugar, pour over a wedge of salted caramel ice cream (which, on its own, is too sickly sweet) but this, is AAA+ Drizzle of cream optional.

Mount, Shaw and McGuire didn't exactly light up the pitch on Wednesday - in fact exactly the opposite. why he didn't bring Mainoo on earlier is anyone's guess.

that's the perpetual conundrum. power corrupts the reform ideas that get people into power.

yup. the US democratic methods need radical overhaul. No "senators for life", no buying votes at any level. Party machinery needs radical change too. then you might get better government.

I think there are very few top musicians who wouldn't jump at the chance of working with Peter Gabriel, I love seeing the way some of these connections play out over time.

Conservative estimates based on trial evidence, longitudinal statistical analysis, and prison officer judgement regarding prisoners maintaining innocence, suggest that there are currently between 300 and 800 prisoners wrongfully convicted of sex offences.

Block caps that shout "I am a moron" - which "side" does that behaviour fall on...? is the whole world divided into 2 sides in your view? if so you have delusions of adequacy.

#PUZZLE Disused WW2 airfield Down Ampney, Glos. Dakotas flew from here. 1st pic by me from a gilder 2012 2nd Google Earth showing same area. Can anyone explain the cricket pitch sized marks at geometric angles that only show up occasionally?

YES! My wife has turned me on to chicory and in turn I have roasted it, coated with balsamic glaze and seasoning, as an accompaniment to Sunday roast, current other fave bitter aspect is a bed of wilted mustard leaves, fresh cut from the garden, under lamb chops or chicken.

the kind of grace the Dem party leadership showed in saying "kill yourself" - for daring to suggest Connolly should be recuperating/dying at home, not occupying a seat to the detriment of democracy itself?

Patrick @patofminch.bsky.social · 22/05/2025
Cancer is an everyday reality for many people, the different types have different prognoses, but most medics lie about those that have a less than 5% chance of survival beyond 2 years. My brother has one that probably won't kill him. Connolly had one that was 95% sure to do so inside his term.

That's the point about democracy not working - in the Nederlands there are 24-30 year olds dominating local politics - they become the 40 year old national elected types. who enables these stale geriatric types to get re-elected? and should every post have an 8 year limit?

yeah - I was arguing Ken on emphasising the old aspect - Sure I see that there are old senators who really should have retired, - even if not demented, too tired and empty. Biden was worse than tired and empty, but Bernie could have served that term and still be fighting fit.

I know gerontocracy is a hobby horse of yours - and I agree it's particularly bad that people keep voting the decrepit in... but isn't that problem one with democracy in the US? being elderly is not the top issue - mind fog is. (and yes both Reagan and Biden should have been eased out earlier)

It's clearly inspired by Israel's "Iron Dome" - which has the net effect of making Israel feel it can attack neighbours with impunity... and that's the aspect that, like a Dr Strangelove fantasy, suits the orange moron's psychopathy.
