One benefit of being back to work after a 2 week vacation is that I can have a hot cup of coffee (two weeks of drinking luke-warm hotel coffee in the UK had me missing my keurig) I'll be working my way thru emails all day today. Lisa and I caught LANTERNS episode 6 last night.

Ah, okay, now that I know you just watched the pilot, presumably since John is Hal's trainee, he can use the ring. In the comics, the rings normally aren't passed around but this seems like a realistic scenario. The dying Abin Sur gave Hal a brief tutorial on using the ring, when he was dying -

I'm sure I'm wrong. I don't think we are seeing the planet-sized Green Lantern Mogo, I think we're just seeing the Bat-Signal, except it's the Lantern-Signal that John is turning on.
