I want the Fanduel odds on who gets thrown under the bus the first time they drop 4 of 5 games -9000 Nick Nurse -400 Embiid EVEN LeBron +300 Edgecomb +15000 Maxey It’s a LeBron team and a Sixers team in one. We’re about to see levels of “thrown under the bus” like we’ve never seen before.

It feels designed to drive content. Like “should mlb shorten the season?” Or “should you pick your opponent?” Are ready made topics you can slot into any sports pod, debate show, etc. What it doesn’t do is talk about the nuts and bolts economics that are really driving a lockout season.

I wish my school was up there.

Speaking of Michael Bay, I had no idea Bill Kennedy was in Pain and Gain.

Also sticks out in sports. The best hbo show we never got is still ‘Kendall and Roman buy the New York Jets’.

I think Mazzula is just sicko enough that he would use a preseason camp sizzle reel to fake out other teams. We may never see these lineups again.

The apron is good for two things: 1. Saving the owners’ money 2. Generating content about trades, extensions, contract drama And the problem is that the latter is increasingly how the league office expects us and wants us to consume the sport. youtu.be/RSjK6pJaPEI?...

I feel the same way about this as I do about Barkley “quitting” Inside The NBA. He’s negotiating through the press. KATs hitting his early 30s and this is probably his last mega deal before he becomes a 1-2 year guy as we see over and over when stars hit their mid 30s.

010

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I learned this recently and I was like “this must’ve changed when they left St Louis right?” NOPE.

000

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I don’t love the contract personally (centers are the running backs of the nba) but you also have to factor in that there will be a couple guys who will get big money/have an extension kick in which will move Duren down the ranks of highest paid.

Are you guys gonna do a Man City episode?

000

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

He’s not wrong. Imagine you had a bonus for # of clean sheets and you were 1 off because of a City game.

020

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

So nice he did it twice. What a player.

001

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

If he was still on the team, I’d bet both of your salaries they would’ve just sent Mitch and called it a day.

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

It’s such a turn of the millennium show in terms of references and outlook. I think it’s kept around for the same reason as South Park. The creators want it, the fans are bonkers, and making new episodes keeps it relevant for the real moneymaker (merch!)

Doesn’t help that the NBA gave them basically zero prime time/national tv game.

The Gordon Hayward alley-oop that kicked this all off feels like yesterday man.

I went to the game where they smacked up the Knicks in MSG and couldn’t have felt worse after. Seriously though Duren fire your agent what are we doing.

I really hope Adams does media after he retires. The Russ stories alone should get him a seat on one of the pregame shows.

Every Thursday night game in that era was between two AFC South teams wearing color rush jerseys. Don’t bother to look it up, that’s really what happened.

The Cuban Thaw is such an underrated development especially considering it highlighted a theme of Obama’s campaign/identity (new guy not bogged down by the conventions of Old Washington) Wish Biden had returned to it when he was in the chair.

The Heist is a good album. Its only crime was coming out when it came out. It’s like if Tom Chambers won the ‘89 MVP. Good player obvs but not in that year by any stretch.

020

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I feel like the pre-Rose/Wes Knicks were like this. Every player that wasn’t Brunson or Lin had 40 or so competing fiefdoms arguing they needed more/less minutes. Any Ntilikina truthers still out there?

110

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

What’s the over/under on number of lawyers/pr people that looked this over before it went out? I’m putting that number at 8.5

Replace TEs with a second kicker.

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I don’t think this ever ends. These guys are ‘66 England, ‘80 US Hockey, ‘85 Bears level. Murals and statues in every borough. In 2047 Deuce McBride will still be getting standing ovations at every restaurant he walks into in the Tristate. That’s how much this team matters.

081

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

It feels weird to call Edward’s underrated bc he’s such got such a high profile but it honestly kinda fits. You think about how many years they missed the playoffs, all the dumb Khan moves, Joe Smith, the recent ownership beefs and Ant just keeps going, taking them to round 2/3 year in year out.

All CP3 wanted to do was have a damn Halloween party.

I feel like it’d be hard to act off of/frame the shot of a 7 foot guy. I think Hart would’ve been the best pick.

000

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

I talked about this a few months back but basically I don’t think we’re ever gonna find out how to talk about stuff like this. You can only play against your own era. So if your team is flying coach or playing in bad sneakers, so is your opponent. youtu.be/14gfj-L2zh4?...

I love that TNT was just “Stuff Ted Turner thinks is neat - the channel”. Like no consultant would ever tell you to put the NBA, pro wrestling, and Shawshank on the same channel. Maybe that’s why it has the charm it does. Because the people working there can just focus on work and not some KPI.

010

Pat Clearly @patclearly.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Their producers/behind the scenes crew in Atlanta is still really, REALLY good. So they have the resources to make these events feel big. Obviously I wish they still had hoops but it’s probably the smartest move given the circumstances.

McAfee and Smith get the rep for being rebellious because they yell and wear tank tops. This doesn’t mess with any relationships with leagues. Pablo’s reporting does. ESPN is a live rights company. We had a decade of bad Monday Night games because they wanted to do journalism and the NFL didn’t.
