Making some progress in my modding backlog, here's Voultar's SNES Edge Enhancer installed in my Super Famicom RGB-01. SNES video tends to horizontally smear sharp transitions, now it's indistinguishable from MiSTer! The thorough guide made this complex install a breeze!

The underside of the SFC motherboard with a large black PCB placed on top of the bottom right quadrant, layered with a smaller red PCB. The black PCB is specific for my hardware variant, providing connections to RGB, amplification, and filtering. The red one replaces some of the video processing chain: several components are removed allowing this to it in the middle. It's connected to a third PCB at the video connector via a long FFC ribbon. Three short jumper wires re-inject the cleaned RGB back into the SFC's composite mixer.

After photo of roughly the same area, now with very sharp outlines. Super minor ringing visible around the tree highlights is just my consumer CRT doing image sharpening.

This sat on my shelf for like a year 😔 but fixed the power supply on this Lynx 2, then did a LCD screen replacement. The Lynx screen is miserable—it was the first colour backlit screen on a game console in 1989, so no shade—but the difference is incredible. The kit even has HDMI out 😳

An Atari Lynx 2, a wide-ass portable game console with the unique feature that it's flippable and ambidextrous (OK maybe the wonderswan did this too). Playing Rampage off of DC power, you can see the screen is really washed out. It's actually got a CFL tube backlight in there.

The same Lynx now with a modern LCD screen upgrade. The colours are vivid and bright. Showing the Gates of Zendocon title screen.

Annual power consumption by company including Apple Meta Microsoft Google and Amazon, in increasing order. Amazon's last data point is in 2022 at around 40TWh. Google has since surpassed that but we can only assume Amazon continues to increase.

I made my Ayaneo Next Lite into a Steam Deck tonight. Literally everything worked out of the box! I'm a belieber!!

It's once again... ah, you get it. I found some really weird bugs that drove me to the brink of giving up. But I have it working on PC, MiSTer, and BlueRetro now.

Stripped down, the PCB has a ESP32 module, USB and some basic other stuff. It's very compact. There's some bodge wires visible.
