Been off social media for Lent, but here’s the bingo card I made - for posterity! Each prediction has a general one and a specific one - curious to see how it turns out!

My (almost) four year old daughter is playing and loving "Princess Peach Showtime!" I'm seeing now that despite gamers' criticisms of it - some of which is reasonable, as it could stand to have a higher skill ceiling/postgame - it is designed so well for younger kids/girls.

I played the heck out of THPS4 on my iBook G4 in 7th grade. It ran at a consistent 7fps, so needless to say... I was very good at the game. (Until I tried it on someone's console and it ran smoothly. A bit of a shock to the system)

I hope I enjoy Pokémon legends ZA as much as I did Arceus! Currently my excitement for it isn’t particularly high, but I’m hoping that’s unrelated to my enjoyment of the end product. The new battling mechanics looks like a really interesting twist too!

Popped back into Pokemon Legends Arceus after the presentation today! If there's one major thing I hope they improve in Pokemon Legends ZA, it's the score. I think Arceus was aiming for BOTW's sparse overworld motifs, but really missed the mark in my opinion.

I watched a great video by The Market Exit today that reminded me how dopamine-reliant my brain is to screens and my phone and stuff. Thankful that I've been spending more time making music lately and will try to let that be where I spend a bit more of my screen time for a while!

After beating Prince of Persia, instead of starting a new backlog game (or... finishing an open one) I'm dipping back into Tears of the Kingdom to keep chipping away at some stuff I never finished! And it just hits such a spot. That game and BOTW fill such a particular void lol

At the end of his CPAC speech, Steve Bannon exclaimed “Fight! Fight! Fight!”, raised his arm in a brief Nazi salute gesture, brought his arm down, nodded his head at the crowd, and then said, “Amen!”

I really hope we get a good, innovative, new Star Fox on the Switch 2

Watched Captain America: Brave New World on Valentine's day with my wife and had a great time! Nothing earth shattering, but a fun movie and a fun date :) Also, the first movie we saw just the us in theaters since Sonic, 2/14/20, exactly 5 years ago, *right* before the pandemic lol

The administration firing all of these government employees left and right feels like if you were to cook all your chickens for dinner because you’ve got a dozen eggs in the fridge.

Put out a little EP of the first round of my Lofi music on streaming services earlier this week :) There's a bunch more sessions that are half-worked ideas, so I'd suspect those turn into something either later this year or next year or something?

It was so fun to chat about this with Mark! We've made our predictions for the first 2 years of Switch 2 in 'Bingo' style Which necessitates that some other podcast did the first 3 years of Switch 2 in the older sister 'Bluey' style, but we weren't quite ready for that investment... Check it out!

I'm playing through Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown currently, and y'all weren't kidding! This game has taken notes from all of the best metroidvanias and executed flawlessly so far.

2025 Games thread! Mostly ones I've 'beaten', but I'll add ones I just play for a while too, and make a note accordingly lol (Also, fun that I can use a Switch 2 gif, because that will be very accurate before the end of the year!)

Outside of Pokemon games, Ninja Boy 2 is one of the only gameboy games from my childhood that's not on NSO, and I haven't played any other games in the series - so I'm curious about Super Ninja Boy! lol

Watching the latest @gvg.io video right now and realized that after playing the Nintendo online play test in October, that will/could absolutely be a launch title that showcases the mouse! (Maybe they mention that in a minute in the video, but not patient enough to not mention it as I think of it)

040

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 16/01/2025

YES! Sucks a bit that the leaks fully leaked it, but this looks awesome and I can't wait to learn more. Also! What if the mouse is partly a feature for a "Mario Kart Maker" mode in Mario Kart 9??

030

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 14/01/2025

Idea for @bsky.app feature To help stop getting caught in a scrolling loop, what about an optional feature to only show like... 50 posts at a time? Like, then if I reach the end of the page I can see if I want to refresh and see more or be done? Maybe it would save bandwidth too!

I just updated my games of 2024 post with the last ones I beat! 25 games beaten in total and a bunch in the backlog that I moved forward a bit, and a bunch more added to said backlog lol Going to sit down soon and reflect on my gaming in 2024 and how that may look different in 2025 :)

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

What's a franchise you'd like to see come back in 2025?

220

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 03/01/2025

Finished Inscryption a day or two ago! Man. That game is a wild ride!! I’m gonna post my 2024 games recap when I get a chance (more for me than for anything else) but with some eShop money, I’m just deepening my backlog well and feel fine about it here at the end of the generation ☺️

030

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 18/12/2024

This is hilarious because the only reason it's so many games is because I opened every single game I own so it would show up on exophase lol And I'm pretty sure this is technically the least I've played since I got my Switch? Not because I didn't want to! New position at work has made it tough!

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

Well, I'm working through my project of getting the majority of my anthology of music somewhere public! I'm clearing out the really bad, embarrassing old stuff from teenage years to lower the bar for current stuff, which will be nice! Added some here, more to come: open.spotify.com/artist/3n9LW...

I am determined to get caught up on work and extra-curricular responsibilities this week so that when I have off four days next week, I can spend at least one evening turning on a game after my daughter's bedtime and feel okay to play it for an unreasonable amount of hours 🎉 This, I decree.

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 14/12/2024

Going back through these old old terrible songs of mine, which is a weird, terrible, nostalgic fever dream haha But it's fun to find the diamonds in the rough! I found one song that will never see the light of day... But I had a "Wait, what was that??" moment that I grabbed my guitar to re-learn!

130

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 12/12/2024

I finally decided that instead of putting only the music online that I feel is as polished as possible (which means I put nothing online), I'm going to dump the hundreds of songs I wrote in middle and high school on spotify and call the albums "These songs are bad: 9th grade" to detox perfectionism

How dare you blue-line something to suggest I be more concise. I'll have you know that I like to have to nitpick spaces and junk in posts because I'm constantly running out of characters, solely due to wanting to add that little bit of emphasis or context that no one needs, but I like to add! Since this app is also for posting cat pictures - here’s my family cat Zoe! (We got her when I was 13) She’s 19, coming towards the end, but so sweet! She lives 3000 miles away so I probably have pet her for my last time, but was thrilled that my daughter got to meet her in March!

As a Christian who vehemently did not vote for Trump, I’m at the stage of grief where I just hope that the next four years puts up a huge mirror to other christians of how hateful, exclusionary and prideful “Christian Nationalism” is.

140

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 06/11/2024

Even if somehow the election turns around, feeling really disheartened that *so* many people would vote for someone that I genuinely feel is such a person antithetical to what is good and honorable. And as a Christian - someone who is so unlike Christ, but many evangelicals somehow champion.

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 31/10/2024

Probably not a controversial opinion, but I think Agatha All Along had one of the best endings of any Marvel TV show. XMen '97 was also great and while the Loki ending was kinda conflicting, it was well done. But this show hit all the right notes, I think!

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 31/10/2024

This is so silly but is also somehow really nice. I’m not sure why I feel so content about this, but I’m listening to the Pikmin 4 title theme and just feeling a nice sense of peace lol

It’s fun to get followers you don’t know in this app and go “oh fun! A new person/friend!” Rather than assume “well, that’s gotta be a bot, right?”

120

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 28/10/2024

I'm still going to double down on my switch 2 theory I've had for like 3-4 years now Of course, it'll be a stronger Switch. But also will be the lowest-barrier-to-entry VR experience yet and with Nintendo experiences to legitimize it (MP4, New Pokémon Snap update, Mario Kart 9 Builder?, etc...)

210

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 25/10/2024

Just voted! Granted, my vote will mean practically nothing in my state, but still feels important :) Very nervous for results day and whether we’ll see another Jan 6th lol But I hope the drama is all leading up to it, rather than after the fact 😬

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 25/10/2024

The only thing that sucks about being in this playtest is if there’s something I don’t understand, I have very much nowhere to get that information haha

030

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 24/10/2024

Just gonna start posting little music things here or there! I think I always feel a pressure for something to be 'impressive' or 'novel' or 'complete' to post it, but I also just like playing stuff and maybe folks would enjoy hearing stuff! Who knows :) I'm just not gonna think about that lol

030

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 24/10/2024

I’m playing the Nintendo Switch Online Playtest thing and actually really digging it. I never played Minecraft, but I’m assuming I would really like it based on what’s happening here lol

290

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 23/10/2024

It's interesting how small of a thing you can get impostor syndrome over. You'd think it's just big stuff (success, popularity or whatever), but it's nuts to realize it can be the reason you don't post a passing thought, don't send a text, don't wear a piece of clothing you think it cool...

110

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 21/10/2024

I know there’s a huge art community on here, but I wonder about music as well? It’s super intimidating to post music online when you’re not a prodigy like everyone on Instagram or whatever lol But I’d love to help towards normalizing sharing music that’s just okay! May try to do that soon :)

010

Parker Deal @parkerdeal.bsky.social · 21/10/2024

Gonna migrate my “games of 2024” list over here shortly! I had a pretty consistent streak of beating little short games earlier in the year and then have instead played back through Golden Sun and the Lost Age and now Echoes of Wisdom for the last while. So progress slowed, but tons of fun!
