#DnD helps high schoolers learn communication and teamwork skills. Player #1: "You are NOT putting a dead body in my bag of holding!" Player #2: "Why not?!"

You know the boundaries between jock culture and nerd culture are blurring when your high schooler uses trig to estimate the downward angle of their killer spikes.

Listening to people speak with such vitriol about extending term limits makes me wonder how easy they must think the job is (despite apparently no one ever getting it right). Would they fly on an airline that, as a matter of principle, fired their pilots after eight years?

The Union-Tribune's top two headlines for the day: the mayor proposes mega-cuts to close budget deficit and a 'nearly new' warship needs an expensive overhaul. Talk about priorities.

Google Search's autocomplete today for "Why do companies think people..." I was actually going to finish the way a lot other people apparently do: "...want AI."

This pretty much sums it up.

Being a sane American right now: it's like the United States is riding in the back seat of a car and Dad is driving drunk. Mom is the Republican party riding in the passenger seat: she knows Dad is sloshed, but she goes along with it because she's afraid of getting beaten up again if she says anything. Some of your brothers and sisters are excited because they like carnival rides and think speed and chaos is entertaining. But you feel slightly insane because you're the only one in the car who understands the danger everyone is in and no one seems capable of stopping the maniac at the wheel. - Tony Rush

17 yrs ago a student in my local history class found this newspaper reprint of a letter a GI wrote home in #WWII. Recently we reconnected and I asked about the letter, which they still had. Its take on why fight is so prescient in #2025. Worth zooming in for sure.

A faded newspaper letter from a WWII soldier to his dad saying they don't want care packages or propaganda but a Democracy to return to.

There are moments in these deportation fights when I can just FEEL how pissed off they are that I’m Puerto Rican 😂 they want to threaten me with it so bad 😂

Has #Trump ever apologized for anything in his life?

I’m not seeing IRL evidence of medias narrative of Dems demoralized. Dismayed by moves like that at Facebook, bracing for mass deportations, being strategic about how they use their energy, etc. This picture comes to mind. (The soldier, btw, was rejected by the Marines for not being a US citizen.)

AOC: Trans girls are girls. And for all the folks that are so concerned, thank you for your concern for women for the first time. I don't know who has been to gym class, I’ve played co-ed sports all the time

Just realized that I’m profoundly tired of watching creators of all types running themselves ragged bending before algorithms like they are the inscrutable God of the Old Testament as companies outsource all risk onto people who actually do the work. I feel their exhaustion.

When a friend finds a dice word game in their purse as you’re talking about your mutual mortification in response to Trump threatening to conquer allies.

Ten six-sided dice with a letter on each side on a wooden table. Most of the dice are used to spell out "CLOWN LORD".

Is anyone else having the urge to organize in your personal life before things start hitting the fan on ‘Day One’? Like your gut knows that you’re not going to have the bandwidth to deal with those piles of papers or whatever in a few weeks? Akin to the end-of-pregnancy nest-making impulse?
