First art of the year! Gotta retrain my brain into 1) making more sketches and “casual” art and 2) recognizing my own self-worth in those drawings I do want to paint the first one though

A digital sketch of an aquatic creature concept, cropped in a way that conceals the full length of the creature out of frame. Some notable features include accentuated ridges around the eye, short webbed front legs with one long claw on each thumb, a sinuous body and tail, and a sail-like fin at the end of the tail along the creature’s spine. #parhelia

Hmmmm should I make a creature adopt? Thought it might be fun I used to design creatures a lot when I was younger and would love to get back into it

Show your range as an artist! Subject edition (will maybe do style edition one day)

Just a lil cat guy standing asking you to "show your range as an artist!"

A digital painting of a vast mountainous landscape, split into a foreground and background by two main bodies of water. A vivid burst of orange, yellow, and aquamarine light represents the sun. An orange-yellow serpentine figure snakes its way from the bottom of the image to the top, starting at the tip of a gray and orange lizard’s tail and ending near the burst of light as it becomes drawn to it.

A digital painting of a red morph eastern screech owl perched on a branch.

This is my first year of Artfight! Here are my first four attacks (AF: Parhelia) I’m painting MUCH more than I ever thought I would for the event (I thought I’d only be making colored sketches) CHARACTER OWNERS Atlas_Hound (Insta) @veppart.bsky.social @wolfrayetlaw.com Orthomerus (VK/Insta)

Reva for Fromageophage
Bsky: veppart.bsky.social
A fullbody digital painting of an owl griffin crouched down on a small patch of grass. She looks at something off-camera with perked ears and wide eyes. The griffin design takes inspiration from the oriental bay owl and the Asian golden cat. #artsky

Wyrm of Paradise for wolfrayetlaw
Bsky: wolfrayetlaw.com
A fullbody digital painting of a small, colorful draconic creature perched atop a particularly sturdy plant stalk. The wyrm is surrounded by other grasses, some taller than the character itself, to illustrate scale. The front half of the wyrm’s body is dark green with yellow spots; a multicolored gradient begins near the bottoms of the creature’s wings and tail fan, continuing all the way down its very long, serpentine tail. #fantasy

Pascal for Orthomerus
A halfbody digital painting of a striped starry wolf character positioned on a backdrop of pale purple and yellow clouds. The wolf’s fur pattern consists of a dark blue and purple base, spattered with bright blue stars, and vivid orange and yellow patches. Pascal looks up wistfully towards the clouds or the stars beyond. #oc

New (revived) Project Alert! Do you love dragons? Well I sure do, to the point where I designed 40+ different dragons for a worldbuilding project of mine! I’ve drawn six so far (shown here), but more are on the way. Alt text has more info; full roster of species names is on parhelia-art.carrd.co

A hexagonal arrangement of six colorful, digitally painted dragons on a dark blue background. Text above the hexagon reads “Dragons of the World,” and text below the hexagon reads “Everyone has an inner dragon. What’s yours?”

From left to right:
Row 1: Bakunawa Blue, Chinese Crimson, Appalachian Apple
Row 2: Horned Hazel, Korean Silver, Pacific Prismatic

These dragons are part of a project to create cultural and geographically-based dragons for everyone to enjoy.

Nosa' luta (Rota White-eye, Zosterops rotensis), illustrated for future use in my own reports/publications/whatever involving this species and other birds of Rota, CNMI. Endemic to the island, critically endangered, and full of boisterous energy 🎨🪶🐡🌏

Digital illustration of a nosa' luta, a small yellow-green songbird with a white ring of feathers around the eye, and an orange beak and feet. This bird is drawn with its wings spread and feet held at the ready, about to land on an unseen branch. The background is a loose blur of colors similar to those in the canopy on Rota - bright yellows and greens, with hints of blue from the yoga berries abundant in this species' habitat.
