To be ultra sure that any malware is gone, download Hiren's Boot CD from www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ and create another bootable flash drive with it. Boot computer using the flash drive and do a low-level format of your computer's drive. Now install Windows on it and you are good to go.

Search for Windows Media Creation Tool on Google. That should provide you a link to Microsoft's site where can create a Windows install drive. Re-install windows on your computer after erasing all partitions on, and formatting, the Windows drive on your computer.

Actually, you are correct. But the problem is that, in its infinite wisdom (actually stupidity), @Microsoft moves some folders to OneDrive without warning you. You and I are probably tech-savvy, but an average person might miss it and not know what's going on.

Windows might have needed a driver to recognize the bus the SSD is attached to. You can go to the laptop manufacturer's website, download driver onto a flash drive, then use it to "discover" the SSD during Windows installation.
