The Asian Short-clawed Otters name comes from their tiny claws. Unlike many other otters, their claws don't extend very far beyond their toes. Their front paws are remarkably hand-like, with sensitive fingers that they use to explore and manipulate food. Photo Director Alison

⭐️ Rollo has arrived! We are delighted to welcome Rollo to Paradise Park. He arrived yesterday evening after his journey from Chateau de la Bourbansais in France, joining Freyja who got here a few weeks ago from Copenhagen Zoo in Denmark.

The Bruce's Fruit Dove is also known as the Bruce's Green Pigeon. Their diet is mainly fruit, and they particularly love figs. In the wild they rely on their favoured species, Ficus platyphylla, a tree which can reach 66 metres tall. Photograph by Director Alison

This is 'Artemis' our Great Grey Owl. With the largest facial disc of any owl, it channels sound like a radar dish directly towards its feather-covered ear openings. With one ear higher than the other, it can pinpoint the tiniest sound with astonishing accuracy. Photograph by Josh-Ryan Murray

Meet the Yellow-crowned Bishop - a talented little weaver that crafts cosy, ball-shaped nests from grass to help keep its chicks safe. During courtship, males show off their striking yellow plumage. Females & fledglings wear more subtle, sparrow-like colours. Photos by Director Alison
