Special mention to Team Fortress 2, Kirby Air ride, and Mario and Luigi Bowser's inside story. All of them could easily earn the Strikers spot on any given day. I feel like im missing something. I guess we're all a tapestry of the games we play, narrowing it down to just 9 feels reductive, but fun!

Talk about a surprise showing! I have 2100 hours in Warhammer games, and it all started when a friend sold it to me as "Pathfinder TTRPG with silly football". Vermintide 2, Total War mods! My heart will always be with the "Bulky Barons", my Orc team who ran the solo player leagues in bloodbowl 2.

If this was on my internet identity this would be #1. My first sonic game that I could actually internalize. Playing as the villains? So deep! (at the time). They even worked together?? Shakespeare to kid me. and the CHAO! I probably had more playtime with them, and my first existential crisis! /gen

Now this is deep in my DNA. "Whoa a mario origin story!" the art style, the gameplay! The BOSSES, hello?? Raphael may be a top 10 boss still to me. Yoshi was my main in every game, even had an OC of one, but that was back when I called them "imaginary friends". His name was Yoshi lol.

A gripping story with fun ideas, Super Paper Mario actually got me to do a retrospective of the series going into high school. The games only got better as I went back, so much that... Well you see my username right? In fact I used to go by SuperPaperWatt. The series is core to my identity!

Any of the first three Smash games could be here. But Brawl's subspace Emissary gave depth to a crossover world. I also won a tournament in High School! Smash 64 introduced me to Kirby too, who's my main to this day! Such a cool power. I really feel like that hand playing with plushies in Smash 64.

If only they made a game about those random dungeons... I saw a friend play this, watching the power ups interact and synergize was mystifying. And the story and lore! (Lore is going to come up a lot on this list lol). it also got me into the twitch community! Northernlion was so influential to me.

I mean... you see my profile right? The first game to ever make me cry. fleshing out a world of just pokemon with a community and lore. It also planted some seeds in my brain. "Gee these random dungeons are so creative." "Tactics, positioning, really adding to the role you play." Gateway to TTRPGs.

What better way to pick number 1 than my gut saying "Sunshine!" frame one. I got this on Christmas that year. Saw Shadow Mario and turned the game off in fear. This game and I grew up together, I was 5. But throw in amazing setting and a deeper narrative than Mario usually gets? Amazing.

Especially Cryptmaster, it feels downright educational sometimes omg. Actually practicing typing speed and solving riddles in the big '26? Unheard of. Tying "leveling up" to solving hangman is way more fun than it sounds lol.

Been in a fun mood recently. My friend had expiring steam codes so Ive been playing all kinds of games. Citybuilders, RPGs, battle cars, now a tower defense roguelike?? It's impacting my art production but hey, experiencing new things is its own reward!

Road Rash 3D is a ton of fun! Weirdly it's worldbuilding(?) is super engaging with its random dialogue and biker gangs. And the gameplay, chaotic and punishing for wiping out! Road Redemption (a spiritual successor) is more fun for the violence but I highly recommend for a couple hours to try.

Those games are notable because my dad liked them. Call it bias but he strikes every dad archetype I can think of, and washed out of games around GameCube. I want to talk like, game design for road rash with him but I know for a fact he won't find that interesting or even understandable lol.

Played Crash Bandicoot and Road Rash 3D on PS1 again. I don't consider myself a "old=better" or "sprite>3D" guy but I found Crash so much more intriguing. Maybe it's the idea that I'm playing a game that plays well for its time instead of a fine game with modern looks.

Rolled credits on the PS1 version today. Man what a game, I could watch those character dialogues for hours. If I understand it right, the characters are voice acted in their own little language, it's not just banjo style gibbering. You can even see they use the same word+sound in other scenes.

So much whimsy in so many pixels. I think it's gates to infinity that's connecting things for me. Both games really want you to feel like you are this character, in a deeper meta way when you turn the game off then revisit later.

Wow I really like Klonoa (never played, probably the 3rd video essay now) And I think it's because this Huepow guy looks like Starlow? The faces he makes in the original hijack my entire nervous system lol. But the basic premise and dream themes are really special. Like the PMD series feelings.

It's funny, my first ever experience with the persona series was the P4 fighting game. And weirdly it's influenced what's soon to be one of the biggest DND sessions of my streaming career. Life is kinda cyclical like that.

PSA to the other #Ghosts out there, the #Pacman power pellets are very scary even if you're not a pac-man ghost. If it worked on me, a #Rotom, it can probably happen to anyone! Luckily I got away before I had to go home and put on a new... body? I wasn't eaten and reduced to two eyeballs lol.

My Pokesona, Piper the Rotom, stumbles upon a glowing sphere she doesnt recognize. She asks "The heck is this?" aloud.

Pac-man appears from the left, chomping towards the sphere. Piper, surprised and a bit confused to see Pac-man in person, she says "Huh? Pac-man?"

Pac-man eats the sphere, proving it was actually a power pellet, which lets Pac-man be able to eat ghosts. Piper, being a ghost herself, turns blue just like pac-man ghosts, supernaturally terrified by Pac-man's empowered state. She cries "AGHHHHH!!!" in fear.

So I got new glasses a couple weeks ago. They took a day to get used to, and they slide down my face a lot, but they have a lowkey peak feature: They are clicky clacky. When I adjust my glasses on my face I feel like an anime nerd who just solved the problem. Call the mechanical keyboard people lol

Going 10 over the speed limit in the rain just to keep up with my aggressive driver family. 150cc IRL lol I'll stick to my safe driving. 3 second response distance, reduce unnecessary lane changes. Driving school was expensive but the family curse ends with me.

I'd imagine ease of gameplay may have been involved. They wanted a puzzle with an easy animal/sound to recognize, but still something that could be considered gross (like a frog) without being too controversial (which is why we didn't get a cat SFX badge for example lol). Just my theory.
