This image centers on Alnitak, the brightest star in Orion's Belt, located approximately 1,260 light-years from Earth. Alnitak is a massive blue supergiant, nearly 20 times the mass of our Sun and 10,000 times as luminous. Its intense ultraviolet radiation plays a crucial role in energizing the surrounding nebulae, bringing their vivid colors and intricate structures to life.

To the lower right of Alnitak lies the Flame Nebula (NGC 2024), a spectacular emission nebula glowing in shades of orange and red due to ionized hydrogen gas illuminated by Alnitak's radiation. To its upper right, the iconic Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) emerges as a dark, horse-shaped silhouette against the radiant glow of the background hydrogen cloud (IC 434). The dark shape is formed by dense interstellar dust that absorbs the light behind it, creating one of the most recognizable features in the night sky.

This deep-sky image was captured using an unmodified Nikon D750 DSLR camera, showcasing what is achievable even without specialized astrophotography equipment. It consists of 81 stacked light frames, each with an exposure time of 900 seconds, ISO800, for a total integration time of 21 hours. Calibration frames, including darks, flats, and biases, were also utilized to correct imperfections and enhance detail. SW 200/1000 + Eq6-r pro+SvBony guider setup. A smooth galaxy, observed with the Apache Point 2.5m Telescope in the SDSS survey. It is at redshift 0.050 (lookback time 698.4 million years) with coordinates (199.32736, 32.92880). 45 volunteers classified this galaxy in Galaxy Zoo 2.

Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) image of Neptune, taken on 12 July 2022, brings the planet’s rings into full focus for the first time in more than three decades. The most prominent features of Neptune’s atmosphere in this image are a series of bright patches in the planet’s southern hemisphere that represent high-altitude methane-ice clouds. More subtly, a thin line of brightness circling the planet’s equator could be a visual signature of global atmospheric circulation that powers Neptune’s winds and storms. Additionally, for the first time, Webb has teased out a continuous band of high-latitude clouds surrounding a previously-known vortex at Neptune’s southern pole.

19 nearby spiral galaxies surveyed with JWST by the Physics at High Angular resolution in Nearby GalaxieS (PHANGS) collaboration. These galaxies have also been observed with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, the Very Large Array, and the Hubble Space Telescope, providing a multi-wavelength view of some of the Milky Way’s neighbors. The JWST images show filamentary structures of warm gas and reveal young star clusters that were hidden in previous observations.
