I have officially completed this revision round! I managed to cut a total of 20,101 words. I’m going to read it aloud all the way through once more, then it will be ready to send back to my agent. I’m so excited & so proud of myself. #revising #writing

I have 2 chapter to edit, then I can say this revision is complete. 😃 So far I’ve cut over 19,000 words. I don’t believe I’ll get to 20,000, but 19,500 is within reach. If I finish today I’ll let you know. 😉

My Writing Process When I have hours to write: struggle to work through plot issues, slow pacing, feel stuck - little gets written When I’m leaving/going to bed in 5 minutes: plot holes solved, pacing problems fixed - scribbles notes hoping I remember it all tomorrow #Writing #Editing

Thank you! I believe the pacing is better now. I made a pretty big change to one of the chapters that cut the majority of it & replaced it with something that I believe moves the plot along better. We’ll see what happens as I get closer to the middle.

I’ve shared about half of it with my critique group, and my agent did sent it to some publishers. That’s why we agreed to pause sending it out & rewrite it to try to fix things based on the feedback.

Today I sent my agent a draft of a picture book. She didn’t know I wrote one, & I have no idea if she wants to look at it. But after feeling stuck & overwhelmed by everything internally & externally, it felt good take an action toward my publishing goal, even if it was just a little one. #writing

I thought writing was pure escapism for me. Yet somehow the novel that got me an agent & the one we currently have on sub were both inspired by the medical issues I wanted so badly to escape from. The first one was more addressing trauma, but neither were subjects I planned to write about initially.

I know my local SCBWI chapter has a PB critique group that meets once a month during our monthly meeting. (There are also MG/YA groups there). Storyteller Academy might have critique groups for members. (I’m not a member though so I’m not certain about that one.)
