Overall yeah Ch 4 still is amazing after a year imo. Just some of the beginning and a few of the battle just makes it a little hard to replay, but the experience made everything worth. I'm absolutely ready for chapter 5 in 2 days

Now, something brand new I did with this playthrough was trying the post content stuff with the Switch 2 joycons. I'll be honest I have no opinion on this entire section one way or another. This felt more gimmicky than anything, but I like the interactions with the Mike guys, and also--

I was stuck on this battle for like an hour last night which was annoying because i know i beat the stupid thing in less time in the past, which is why im more frustrated and salty about it more than anything. Other than that yeah this chapter is great

Last but not least the final battle with the Titan. It sucked so bad. Yes, I can give it some slack because it's the final battle of the chapter and especially since the Titan is some being that's supposed to give you a hard time, but holy hell dude this battle was NOT fun to do again

The puzzles are also kinda annoying to deal with (cough, cough, green and purple piano section), but that's kinda minor at worst. The Jackostein battle is genuinely the worst battle of the game so far. Yes it has it's funny moments but my god i always dread having to redo that battle (love jack tho)

Good part of that section tho was when Kris takes the Soul out and we run around Noelle's vent system, mainly because of the secrets you find around the house like with Carol's blueprints and Asgore possibly foreshadowing Ch 5 which was really cool to see. Still kinda dragged in that section tho

Now... with that being said, this chapter isn't perfect. I have a few issues with it. The beginning kinda drags a bit with looking for the code to the shelter. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see Noelle again and see her mother for the first time, but i think we spend too much time at their house

Then later when they get out of the dark world to find Gerson only to see that he's been unfortunately deceased (annnnd that Gerson's son keeps his ashes in the desk for sooooome reason lmao) was like a insanely shocking moment and a major gut punch. Just that entire section with Gerson is perfect.

Another great aspect of Ch 4 is Gerson. I love this dude. He's old! I love how the second he shows up he's like a walking deus ex machina. Everything he does LITERALLY has a purpose and works in our favor. I love his and Susie's dynamic, how he makes her realize her true potential.

The battles are great, the characters shine so hard, and oh my GOD the music is fantastic. Genuinely some of the best in the ENTIRE series so far. Dark Sanctuary, From Now On (Battle 2), Third Sanctuary, Guardian, etc are all phenomenal tracks.

Got to replay Chapter 4 again but this time i'll share my full thoughts on this chapter. It's still my favorite chapter of Deltarune so far. The issues I have with chapter 3 are pretty much answered here. We just get a WHOLE bunch of lore and great fantastic character moments ESPECIALLY Susie's

All in all, this is a fun chapter! I think id put it over ch 1 in terms of gameplay and visuals but I still don’t think it’s a total upgrade from ch 2. It’s just missing a bit of that serious edge to it until the ending but that’s only in the end of the chapter. Otherwise I had fun!

This chapter’s ending hit like a truck even after all this time, like talk about a total vibe shift lmaoooo. Really set the tone for ch 4. I just REALLY wish they didn’t reuse the ch 2 credits theme since the tome here is a LOT more different compared to the ending of that chapter.

Last thing I’ll say is that the final fight with Tenna is my absolute favorite fight from the entirety of Deltarune so far. He is REALLY fun to battle, I love the way they incorporated some of the mini games into the battle which had me engaged through and through.

My super nitpicky issue I have tho is that I really wish they didn’t reuse Roulxs battle theme from ch 2, it seemed a bit lazy especially since the battle here is so much better than in ch 2 and I felt like it deserved a bigger theme idk.

Up until roulxs forces himself into their relationship which really made me laugh. His battle is also really fun and I love the twist they put on compares to the other battles with him. Lancer didn’t do much in this chapter, so it’s cool to see how they implemented him in the battle.

Another super underrated aspect of this chapter is Roulxs. He SHINES in this chapter. He’s so much funnier here than he was in the other chapters. As for the other characters, the sun and moon duo didn’t do much for me. I love their designs but other than that they’re just kinda annoying to watch

But I think the chapter REALLY amps up after the doom board. Things get a lot better seeing how things crumble as Tennas employees/goons leave him and you get to experience how vulnerable he is. Trying to go through the backstage as this all happens while “TV World” plays is a great time

The boards admittedly draaaag so hard dude. They get really annoying to play through. It’s cool playing through the different game styles like the legends of Zelda styled sections, but some of them are a slog to get through. Also im gonna be blunt that cooking minigame is sooo badly designed lmao

While there aren’t many new characters here, the ones we do have are REALLY good. I love Tenna. I love how he has a different art style compared to the other characters. He has a very fun personality. He’s just a goofball who’s very needy and I would protect more than anything

…but ch 3 was lacking some of what ch 2 had which is why it I wasn’t super digging it. One thing I can absolutely say that now that i finished replaying it, I have a newfound respect for this chapter. If there’s one thing it has, it’s a LOT of charm.

Part of that was because of the super freaking long wait between ch 2 to here, and I had high expectations for ch 3 lol. Ch 2 had a lot going for it like the lightners (Noelle & Berdly), it had a bunch of lore stuff and great character developments/arcs and overall it was a fun time…

Just finished replaying chapter 3 and I definitely have a few thoughts on this chapter. Nothing bad or anything but im a bit divided on it. I remember when I first played it over a year ago, it didn’t really “click” with me like chapter 2 did. I didn’t think it was bad but it was lacking “something”

I know there’s more lore to this character with the secret boss fight with him, but I didn’t really do that yet. I’ll look into doing all the secret boss fights soon but for now im just not going to prioritize doing these battles rn.

Another thing is Spamton. I genuinely never cared for this character which is crazy because of how popular he became but he never did it for me. I kinda dislike how he’s introduced… just kinda interrupts the story outta nowhere and fighting him was reeeeeally annoying.

Now the few things I don’t like about this chapter Berdly is annoying. I actually don’t remember him being THIS insufferable when I first played ch 2 back when it came out. Not enough to ruin the whole chapter for me, but I was glad when his scenes were over and he wasn’t onscreen anymore lol
